Our new episode of our video/podcast series is now live! Introducing All Things Business and Technology, David Donnelly in conversation with Pamela Isom, MBE, WBE of ICE Safety Solutions. A little about Pamela: "When she was 13 years old her dad had a heart attack right in front of her. Soon after that she became a lifeguard and learned the basics of CPR and First Aid. In her first career as a biologist, there was an incident at the lab and she was chosen to be the in-house safety trainer. This allowed her to become well versed in CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Disaster Preparedness. Then, after her first daughter was born premature, she spent a lot of time out of the office. She felt she needed a new career which would enable her to juggle work and family. She knew she wanted to empower others to save lives. This was the crossroads of the founding of ICE Safety Solutions." Ensuring a sense of safety and security for your church staff is of paramount importance for a positive work environment. A recent episode of the Healthy Church Podcast revealed that only about 71% of church staff believe their church handles safety and security well. Here are five strategies to ensure increased safety: 1. Assess Existing Safety Measures: Review your current safety programs - do you have medical teams or security teams in place? Do you provide training for potential scenarios? 2. Regular Refinement: Regularly assess and refine your emergency response plans. Update protocols as needed. 3. Open Communication: Ensure staff know about your safety initiatives, reporting guidelines, and are encouraged to share their experiences and suggestions. 4. Advanced Security Measures: Consider investing in advanced security measures, such as surveillance cameras or alarm systems. 5. Support & Resources: Should an incident occur, offer support systems like counseling services for affected staff. Active steps towards creating a safe work environment not only protect your staff but also demonstrate your care for their well-being.
