This is a great animation of stable Near Earth Asteroids. What it doesn't show are asteroids with eccentric elliptical orbits. Such asteroids move with more comet-like orbits and will approach Earth from sunward. Imagine I shine a flashlight in your face while tossing one grain of sand at a time at your nose. You may see that grain of sand a tic before it hits you on the noggin. You may not. That is where we stand with asteroids with eccentric orbits. These eccentric rocks or gravel piles move at nearly 12 km/sec. For improved detection and diversion, we must have an early warning detection system closer to the sun; a dew line for a different potential apocalyptic strike. We have the solution at Deep Space Dynamics. #wedeliver United States Space Force Space Force Cadet Corps US Air Force School of Advanced Air and Space Studies (SAASS) United States Air Force Small Business Office, Air Force Sustainment Center Department of the Air Force (USAF & USSF) Chief Modeling & Simulation Office US Army Naval Special Warfare Center Marine Corps Systems Command U.S. Coast Guard SDA TAP Lab National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) SpaceX

From my excellent American Newsletter The 1440: Historic Spacewalk SpaceX's Polaris Dawn mission made history yesterday as billionaire Jared Isaacman and SpaceX engineer Sarah Gillis completed the first private spacewalk. The pair exited their Crew Dragon capsule roughly 450 miles above Earth in new SpaceX-designed spacesuits. Before the walk, the crew underwent a two-day pre-breathe process—breathing pure oxygen to purge nitrogen from the bloodstream—while decreasing cabin pressure to reduce the risk of decompression sickness. All four crew members wore spacesuits, which operate at a lower pressure than the spacecraft's interior, and the entire capsule needed to be depressurized as it lacks an airlock. The mission is also conducting 36 scientific experiments from 31 institutions, including studies on radiation exposure, motion sickness, and eye health. Many aim to contribute to NASA's Human Research Program and provide insights into deeper space travel. Only 265 humans have conducted a spacewalk, with 149 from the US. #Spacewalk #Civilian #PolarisDawn #Mission #Science #Space https://lnkd.in/gRdxtk6c

On July 12, 1966, the Northrop M2-F2, a heavyweight lifting body developed based on studies at NASA's Ames and Langley research centers, made its maiden flight. This significant event marked a milestone in the development of lifting body technology, which aimed to safely maneuver and land low lift-over-drag vehicles designed for reentry from space. The M2-F2 was built by the Northrop Corporation in 1966 and was one of the first two heavyweight lifting bodies flown by NASA's Flight Research Center (FRC) at Edwards, California. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology #militarytechnology #defensetechnology #defenseinnovation #defenseindustry #airforce #california #USA

This is Space Force JROTC Moments of Remembrance for Military Space Sacrifices: 3 In 1999, the “Moment of Remembrance” was added at 3 pm local on Memorial Day by declaration of the President of the United States. The declaration expanded the scope of Memorial Day by asking all Americans to hold a minute of silence to remember those who died in service to the nation. This Memorial Day weekend, the Space Force JROTC enterprise would like to share some posts of military members who died in the line of duty when serving the nation’s vision in space. Please remember these individuals during your Moment of Remembrance on Monday afternoon. Major Michael James Adams (May 5, 1930 – November 15, 1967) was an aviator, aeronautical engineer, and USAF astronaut. He was one of twelve pilots who flew the North American X-15, an experimental spaceplane jointly operated by the Air Force and NASA. He was named to the secret group of military astronauts to fly the future Manned Orbiting Laboratory (MOL) which was later cancelled. On November 15, 1967, Adams flew one of the three X-15s in the fleet to an altitude above 50 miles. At that point he qualified as an astronaut according to the United States definition of the boundary of space. Moments later the craft broke apart. He was the first American space mission fatality by the American convention. #WeRemember this #MemorialDay. #TellTheirStories For a meaningful recording of Taps to use during the Moment of Rememberence, consider this contribution from the U.S. Army: https://lnkd.in/eny6m6Zd The ten #SFJROTC units are managed by Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFJROTC) with United States Space Force, Space Training and Readiness Command, Space Delta 13, Detachment 2.

The F-15 Eagle played a crucial role in monitoring Space Shuttle launches, providing aerial support and tracking capabilities during liftoff. Equipped with advanced sensors, the F-15 could gather critical data on the Shuttle's ascent, ensuring mission safety. Its presence in the skies added an extra layer of security, demonstrating the collaboration between the U.S. Air Force and NASA during these historic launches. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology #militarytechnology #defensetechnology #defenseinnovation #defenseindustry #airforce #pilots

The English Electric Canberra, a true aviation marvel, first graced the skies in May 1949. This elegant jet bomber served for an impressive 57 years, with the Royal Air Force (RAF) finally retiring its Canberras in June 2006. A testament to its versatility, a staggering 1,376 Canberras were built throughout its production run. Interestingly, the story doesn't end there. Three Martin B-57 variants, a derivative of the Canberra, continue to see service today! These dedicated aircraft perform vital meteorological work for NASA, showcasing the enduring legacy of the Canberra's design. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology #militarytechnology #defensetechnology #defenseinnovation #defenseindustry

NASA and Lockheed Martin Skunk Works recently unveiled the X-59 experimental aircraft, designed and built to reduce a loud sonic boom, associated with faster-than-sound flight, to a quiet sonic thump. The X-59 now moves closer to its first flight. A step toward making commercial supersonic flight over land a reality for everyone. Researchers on NASA’s Quesst mission will work to understand people’s reactions to the X-59’s thump and give that data to regulators, who will then consider writing new sound-based rules to lift the ban on commercial supersonic flight over land. #military #defense #defence #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #aircrafts #airplane #airplanes #aviationlovers #militaryaviation #militaryaircraft #fighterjet #engineering #technology
