We sure get proud of our opinions, perspectives, beliefs, and that "I'm a good person" mindset, don't we? Social media has trained us like little dogs to shout our views at others, and when we get angry, it harms our mental health. It’s easy for that kind of communication to become a habit. But here’s the thing—research shows we have more in common than we think. When you dig deep, we share many of the same desires and values. Unfortunately, big propaganda machines tell us “others are evil,” and we start to believe it, sending our mental health spiraling. Want to know why listening on the sidewalk is amazing for both the listener and the person being heard? Because you discover, “Wow, people are really freaking good, loving, and wonderful!” Yes, even people who look, think, vote, partner, or pray differently than you. You'll realize how wrong those narratives are when you get to know them without all the influencer-driven nonsense. Imagine the world we could create if we all set aside our "self-righteous," "influencer-peddled" shenanigans and started seeking the hearts of gold inside each person. I dare you to listen this way for the next seven days. Stay tuned—Sidewalk Talk has a 90-minute training on listening across differences to help you rediscover the hearts of gold in others. This will be a fundraiser for Sidewalk Talk to keep our mission alive. Yay! Love you all. ❤️ #sidewalktalk #mentalhealth #commonground

Mental Health Awareness Month is winding down, so I want to discuss one of the biggest threats - the stories (narratives) we tell about ourselves and others. Narratives are incredibly powerful in shaping our positions in the world. As a Black woman, there is not a day that goes by that I'm not reminded about what someone else thinks about me. Whether positive or negative, I seldom let other people's narratives shape how I live, work, and show up in the world. God gave me the authority to be me! My authenticity is bold and accompanied by a healthy balance of maturity, empathy, and wisdom. Regardless of your background, it is dangerous to live into and act upon unchecked narratives that you've inherited from society, your family, or even your own biased imagination. What narratives about yourself and others do you need to check? #wellness #riskmanagement

🌟 The Pressure of Perfection 🌟 Scrolling through social media can sometimes feel like stepping into a highlight reel of everyone’s best moments. 📸✨ But behind those perfect posts are real struggles, uncertainties, and pressures that many of us face. The pressure to look flawless, have it all together, or live a picture-perfect life can weigh heavily on our mental health. 🧠💔 Let’s shift the narrative. By sharing our authentic stories, the ups and downs, the challenges and the triumphs, we can create a space where genuine connection thrives. 💬❤️ When we open up about our real experiences, we foster compassion and build a community rooted in understanding and support. 🤝🌈 Remember, you’re not alone in this journey. Let’s embrace our imperfections and celebrate our true selves. Together, we can uplift each other and create a more empathetic and connected world. 💪💖 #RealTalk #MentalHealthMatters #CommunitySupport #Authenticity #Empathy #Connection #EmbodyYourEssence

🌞 Introducing an empowering quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald, reminding us of the impact one simple act of kindness can have. 💫 "It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living." 🌅 This quote subtly reminds us to keep moving forward, despite our mental health struggles. Knowing that a cheerful smile can brighten the darkest of days is quite powerful. Remember, your strength is immeasurable, and each day you battle your struggles, you're one step closer to victory. Small gestures of self-love can make a significant difference. A smile costs nothing but can ultimately bring the warmth back into our lives. 💛☀️ Let’s keep spreading positivity, for ourselves and those around us. Together we can brighten the world, one smile at a time. Keep shining, and remember, it's okay not to be okay. Keep going, the world needs your light.💫 #MentalHealthMatters #StayStrong #SpreadTheSunshine

People, stop being unkind and hurtful. In the age of social media and hiding behind a keyboard, it's easy to forget the person on the other side of the screen. Every day, I see the relentless bashing and disregard for empathy on social media, often leaving unseen scars on mental health. It's high time we ask ourselves: Is this who we want to be? Words have power—power to lift but also to break. Believing in something or standing up for your views doesn't necessitate belittling others. There's a fine line between expressing opinions and being outright hurtful. We can, and absolutely must, do better. I'm taking a stand, challenging not just myself but urging others to approach disagreements with empathy and kindness. It's possible to have strong opinions and still respect humanity. From here on, I vow to call out empathy’s absence and kindness's neglect in online interactions. It's not about policing thoughts but fostering a space where diverse views can coexist without harm. Let's pivot towards being the positive difference. Can we challenge each other to #dobetterpeople? At the end of the day, it's not just what we say but how we say it that truly defines us. #empathymatters #kindnessforever

"Comparison is the of joy" - this sole statement is my belief on the negative impact social media is causing on our mental health. However, I've done some recent work with life & holistic coaches, and I am currently going through the personal journey and changing my energy towards social media. Because ultimately it can be used for good. QQ- can you run a successful company in today's world NOT using social media? #socialmedia #theifofjoy #dogoodfeelgood

🌟 Seeking Help Isn’t Weakness: Embracing Strength in Vulnerability🌟 In a world that often praises self-sufficiency and independence, we sometimes forget one crucial truth: seeking help is an act of incredible strength, not weakness. 🚀 🌱 **Breaking Stigmas** It’s time to break the stigmas surrounding asking for help, especially when it comes to our mental health. We’ve been conditioned to believe that admitting vulnerability is a sign of inadequacy, but it’s time to challenge this harmful stereotype. 🤷♂️ **Challenge the Norm** Let’s challenge the norm. Seeking help doesn’t diminish your worth or capabilities. Instead, it’s a bold acknowledgment that life can be tough, and it’s perfectly acceptable to reach out for support when needed. 💪 **The Power of Vulnerability** Strength is often found in vulnerability. It takes immense courage to admit when you’re struggling, to open up about your emotions, and to actively seek guidance. 🚀 **Therapy: A Path to Self-Love** In my own journey, therapy has been a catalyst for personal growth, healing, and self-love. It’s not a reflection of my weaknesses but a testament to my determination to become the best version of myself. 🤝 **Building a Supportive Community** Let’s cultivate a supportive community where seeking help is not only encouraged but celebrated. Together, we can uplift and empower one another on our unique paths to self-love and mental well-being. 💬 **Join the Conversation** Have you ever felt hesitant to seek help? What changed your perspective and made you embrace the strength in vulnerability? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below. Let’s create a safe and welcoming space for meaningful conversations. 💙 #SeekHelpNotWeakness #MentalHealthMatters #StrengthInVulnerability #SelfLoveJourney #BreakTheStigma

Story Time : This week holds special significance for me, as mental health awareness is a cause very close to my heart. It's not just a concept I support; it's something I've lived through firsthand. I've experienced those dark slumps and challenging spaces where pulling yourself out seems like an insurmountable task. During those times, while many may not have been aware of my struggles, there were individuals who played an incredibly pivotal role. They stood by me, walking alongside me through the toughest parts of my journey. Despite my outward positivity and influence on others with uplifting words, inside, I was often breaking. Admitting my struggles wasn't easy. I never wanted to burden anyone with my inner battles. Yet, I was fortunate to have some amazing people in my personal life and in my place of work, who could sense when something wasn't quite right. They'd reach out with a simple invitation for coffee or a quick chat, offering their support without judgment. I'll forever be grateful to those individuals who helped me navigate the storm. But not everyone is as lucky to have such a strong support system. In our fast-paced lives, it's easy to overlook those who are silently struggling. That's why it's crucial for us to reach out, to ask a simple "how are you doing?" and truly listen to the answer. Sometimes, breaking the silence with a few words and acts of kindness can make all the difference. Let's check up on those who have grown quiet and ensure that no one feels like they're fighting their battles alone. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #BreakTheSilence #SupportMatters #ItsOkaytonotbeOkay #RandomactofKindness

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Over the years, I've lost two loved ones to suicide - a close friend and my very own brother. As that sting lingers, I pray my son maintains a positive mind and body as he tackles this crazy thing we call Life. "How are you?" has always been a standard small talk starter, especially in the work environment. But how many of us really dive into that? I'm the first one to admit that I don't always go further. The person will typically reply simply and both parties go about their business. But, tomorrow, let’s challenge ourselves to go deeper. When you see a coworker, go past the "I'm good and you?" response and ensure that they are truly well. If we all check in with the person sitting to our left or right, we can collectively break down the stigma. Stay vocal, stay listening, and allow folks to open up. "How are you?" can help save a life. To my buddy Raj and to my brother Chris, I miss you both deeply. Love always. #mentalhealthawareness
