And another one! Well, two, but more on that later! For now, I would like to announce the next member of our panel for the May 16th Dinner Meeting. A renaissance man with more hats than a major level baseball team, Mr. David Yang. David Yang is the Senior Vice President for Business Development at ICF, overseeing a portfolio of commercial and government clients. With leadership roles in Fortune 500 firms and the U.S. Government, including the @Library of Congress, David has over 30 years of experience in sales and technology consulting. At ICF Mr. Yang also assists with identifying and supporting the growth of compatible small business partners. Prior to his role with ICF, David served as a Senior Vice President at ITG where he worked alongside clients in the public and private sector to create and deliver digital transformation initiatives. At ITG, David was responsible for driving adoption of emerging technologies enabling digital transformation in the public and private sector. ITG was eventually sold to ICF, leading to his current role with the company. Mr. Yang is a serial challenge seeker and problem solver. Prior to ITG, David was a Vice President at ICF (yes, you read that correctly); a Vice President at DMI; Director, Homeland Security at Sapient and an Account Executive at Appian Corporation as well as the founder of another start-up firm designed to improve how we play soccer. David serves on the boards of both ATARC (Advanced Technology Academic Research Center) and FORUM; he is also an Executive-in-Residence at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. Additionally, he holds the rank of Volunteer Assistant Fire Chief with the Prince George’s County Fire Department, MD where he has supported his community for over two decades. He holds a B.S. in Advertising Design from the University of Maryland, an M.A. from the University of Baltimore, and a Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management and Leadership from the University of Maryland School of Public Policy. At our annual members meeting yesterday (https://lnkd.in/gduHqYZS), we shared about the exciting growth of Technologists for the Public Good. What started as a grassroots professional association has grown to a member base of more than 1,700 technologists. We’ve supported dozens of members through our mentorship program, and hundreds through our resume review program. As we continue to grow our membership and expand our programming, we have two exciting announcements to share. First, we are looking for two new public interest technology leaders to join our #Board of Directors. We’re particularly seeking diverse and experienced leaders that are aligned with our mission to power the people who are reimagining how the government serves the public. We want people who are enthusiastic about building and supporting this organization and the community. This membership model will enable us to provide expanded value to our members, be responsible stewards of our members' trust, and build long-term stability for this community. Our goal is to provide more valuable services to our members so that you can become more productive and grow in the profession – ultimately leading to better public services for the people. The standard membership dues will be $150 annually, with discounted and organizational options available. We are committed to providing member benefits to as many people as possible. This is a story about the big ‘Comms. Table’ at 18 York! It’s the table where all of us from the comms. team congregated and in time it just became our ‘hood! It’s where we build our best plans and have the most animated discussions. It’s where so many people stop-by (always welcome, Alan) 🤩 and we chat quickly / resolve things without having to get on a call or write an email. It’s the collisions that count. We’re making the most of being in-person and making connections that matter! It’s become a real hotspot - on any given day you’re bound to find someone from the team there! You can strike up a conversation about strategic comms. or work with us on an engagement plan. 'The Comms Table' even got called out on a national call the other day! (Thanks Heather) ☺️ It goes without saying that we also have a lot of fun at the table, and of course - there’s always coffee and food. It’s what makes our coming into the office almost incidental - and something we don’t count in days per week anymore.
