Impact on OTT Platforms OTT platforms have already made quite an impact by with regional movies. Analysts even claim that regional movies have been reigning supreme over Bollywood. The success of “Pushpa” and “RRR” are a testament to that. The OTT markets is US $4.06 bn but with encouraging successes like this, the projected US $5.81 could be reached sooner than 2029. Regional OTTs While all regional channels offer an OTT subscription (Sun Nxt, Hotstar, Hoichoi and more), all of them have not broken even on their offerings. They are now in a unique position to leverage this success. The ability to cater to a global audience with regional content that can resonate with them is no longer a possibility but a reality. In-film Integration Myths Vs Facts How you can Save millions in your Adspends Cost of an integration in mainstream bollywood movies depends on the starcast, storyline and the quality of integration( Active or Passive ) It can range from 20lacs to 50 lacs generally. While some integrations can be as low as 10lacs to as high as 1Cr.... But wat we need to consider is the cost per 10secs Vs a TVC spot costing... Generally any integration is for 8-10secs. Multiply it with the number of screens ( any good bollywood movie ) will release in min 2000screens So it's ( 2000*10 *4|no of shows per day| ) = 80,000secs per day ,which means 8000 TVC spots @ an avg cost of 25lacs So Ur per 10secs costing (25lacs/8000)= Rs.312/_ for 1day.. Now a movie runs minimum 2 weekends in theatres..Hence 8000spots/day *15 days = 1,20,000 TVC spots So your costing per week per 10secs Spot = 2500000/1,20,000 = Rs.21/_ per spot . This could work as steroids for bollywood industry. If you place this in context of my earlier posts that mentioned 2 strategic gaps also to be viewed as 2 big missing piece and long lost foundations that built bollywood into a mega industry as: 1. Ticket Price 2. Content With an average price of Rs 70 per movie, this move definitely addresses the first part. One cannot isolate bollywood from masses The industry with the onset of multiplexes completely deserted this set of audience that comprised 70% of movie goers. Success of Gadar 2.0 further reiterated this point. I am sure the industry will soon wake up to the content realignment too.
