"During Donahoe’s tenure, Nike sales have grown 31% to $51 billion in 2023. That is more than double the results of Adidas, its closest competitor by far. New Balance reported sales reached $6.5 billion last year, and upstart On almost hit the $2 billion mark." - The Wall Street Journal / Inti Pacheco (unlocked link below) Yet the markets have punished Nike stock. Winning in the sports business requires greatness at product innovation and clean distribution. Even with 31% growth, the markets know that Nike is underperforming relative to stronger competition, especially a strong lululemon, resurgent adidas and New Balance and niche players like On, HOKA, Brooks Running, Tracksmith, Vuori and NOBULL creating new energy. If we look at history, this same negative pattern has repeated itself whenever a new CEO without a sports / lifestyle product or sales background takes over, regardless of how talented and experienced they are. And the opposite positive effect takes hold when a product leader takes over. What do my sports / lifestyle industry people think? /// #innovationeconomy #nike #sportsinnovation #therealheroistheproduct https://lnkd.in/eQjY6ppb

Hello, Hello. Have you all watched the phenomenal piece of work done by Blair Vermette as a part of reimagining the world of Adidas Florals into an AI ad? What strikes me most is that the fluidity and seamless manner of the flow of the story and the visual representation. It may have been created in an AI platform but it will be more exciting to know the process of making such content which we will decode for you in one of our upcoming podcasts. We at .executable work on such projects and work with some of the best minds in the world. In fact we are currently working on a project that is of similar proportions and it will be exciting to take you all through the process of how we plan to make it happen. Some of you have asked us questions if this AI is going to challenge the creativity of the Advertising world. As of now we can safely tell you that it won't. This will aid the brands and agencies to produce more efficient and interesting content but then there will be a tipping point and what we at .exe are constantly thinking of is how will we be able to ensure that #CreativeTech does not fall from the tipping point of the problem of plenty. That my dear friend is what understanding human emotion and insights can do. :) Comment on what you want us to decode for you in terms of the latest developments of creative tech. We will be happy to do so. In the meantime shout out to a phenomenal creator - Blair. 🙌 Binodan Sarma Rohit Kumar Aditya Singh #AI #Advertising #AIinadvertising #CreativeTech #TechThursdays

Hello everyone, Did you know the stories behind some of the Iconic Company name. 1. Nike When the Company was found in 1964, it was called as Blue Ribbon sports, which was probably too long. The Company's first full time employee, who has convinced to change the Company name to Nike by insisting successful brand name had two essential qualities. First they were short. Second they contained an exotic Letter like such as X, K or Z. In Greek mythology, Nike is the goddess of victory. 2. Apple During Steve jobs fruitarian period, in which he consumed an all fruit diet, he visited an apple farm and inspiration struck. 3. Starbucks It was inspired from Herman Melville's classic novel "Moby Dick". In the novel, which chronicles a doomed whaling expedition from the coast of Nantucket, Starbuck is the captain Akab's first mate aboard ship. 4. Adidas It has got its name from founder Adolf Dassler, whose nickname is Adi. This nickname was coupled with the first three letter of Adolf's surname to form the name Adidas. Happy learning and have a nice day ahead 😊 #Company #backstory #history #learning

I'm following my goal in life, regardless of obstacles. Everyone should. Nike-Meaning of the Slogan The specific phrase aimed to inspire people to take action, become more active and engaged, and pursue their goals in life, regardless of obstacles. Furthermore, through its straightforward and commanding tone, the slogan is a call to action. It specifically asks the audience to be proactive, determined, and persistent in the face of challenges. It encourages people to take action and overcome any doubts or obstacles in their way. The slogan represents, reflects, and reinforces the established brand identity of Nike which revolves around athleticism, motivation, and success. Transparency is key in today's world, but would you go as far as giving your cell phone number to over 60k people? The Adidas CEO gave his cell phone number out to showcase his transparency. While it's a bold move, can you imagine the amount of texts and calls they received? It definitely takes courage to be this transparent, but is it worth the potential disruption to your daily life? What do you think? #transparency #communication https://lnkd.in/gJqTwaAk
Adidas' CEO says he gave his cell number to 60,000 employees and was slammed with 200 messages a week, report says

Speed = business success. Feeds passion and desire. But watch out. Attractive? Yes. Better? Not so much. Sustainable growth tells more. Example take Adidas....went from bankruptcy in the 1990s. Today? #2 behind Nike. Company's been in existence since the 1900s as Dassler Bros shoes. Been through 2 WWs, depression, superstardom, countless evolutions...innovations...still here. Speed or consistency? Rather see consistency. You? P.S. How have you experienced consistency in your business?

🚪 When One Door Closes, Use the Window! 🪟 Ever had a door slammed in your face? No, I'm not talking about your cat ignoring you (though that hurts too). I mean in your career or life! Here's a little story: My friend Sarah dreamed of being a chef at a fancy restaurant. She applied to every 5-star joint in town, but no dice. 🎲 Did she give up? Nope! She thought, "If I can't join 'em, I'll beat 'em!" Sarah's journey: 1. Started a food blog 📝 2. Became a social media foodie sensation 📸 3. Launched a successful meal prep business 🥘 4. Now owns a restaurant that turned down her application! 😎 Ways to open new doors: 1. Network like your WiFi depends on it 2. Learn a new skill (juggling optional, but impressive) 3. Volunteer or intern (be the best coffee-fetcher they've ever seen!) 4. Start your own thing (pet rock business, anyone?) Remember: Success is like a house - there's always more than one way in! As the great Milton Berle said: "If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door." (Or a window. Or a skylight. Heck, dig a tunnel if you have to!) 🤔 Question: What's the craziest "alternative door" you've used to reach a goal? Share your stories of creative problem-solving below! 👇 Let's build a library of life hacks! #CareerAdvice #Perseverance #SuccessStories #AlternativePaths #HumorsOfLinkedIn #GennadiyVaksman #GV #MrG #Gennadiy ------------------------------ ✅️ I share content that I find unique, inventive, and distinctively cool. ✅️ Follow me for more updates: Gennadiy Vaksman ✅️ Stay tuned for my latest content by ringing the bell icon (🔔) at the top right corner of my profile. ------------------------------
A door is closed. No problem. There are other ways to get what you want. Don’t give up on what truly matters to you. As Nike says. Just do it. As I say: Just go for it and keep going for it.

Our Communication Skills Can Change Our Lives! Here is a story for everyone to read and understand. The Speech That Saved Nike (1972) The first story happened in 1972 and appears in Shoe Dog, the autobiography of one of Nike’s co-founders—co-written with J. R. Moehringer, who is also the ghostwriter of Prince Harry. Nike started as Blue Ribbon in 1964, distributing Onitsuka sneakers in the United States. Eventually, Onitsuka revoked their exclusivity in 1972, forcing Blue Ribbon to produce their own sneakers. When they received the news, the team was in shock. Phil Knight had prepared a speech, but before speaking, he decided to leave his notes behind and speak from the heart. This is what he said: What I’m trying to say is, we have them right where we want them. This is the moment we’ve been waiting for, our moment. Our supplier Onitsuka has limited us for years (…). Who among you is not tired of that? It’s time to face the facts. Whether we win or lose, it will be on our terms, with our ideas, with our brands. We sold two million USD last year, all thanks to you (…). Let’s not see this as a crisis; let’s see it as our liberation. The day of our independence. Yes, it will be tough, I won’t lie to you. We’re definitely going to war, folks, but we know the terrain, and that’s why I feel in my heart that this is a war we can win. And if we win, when we win, I see great things for us on the other side of this victory. We’re still alive, folks, we’re still alive… The message was so successful that a few months later, Blue Ribbon released their first original sneaker onto the market: the Nike Cortez. The rest is history #communication #story #sucesss #motivation #willpower
