Wingman Wishes all our followers a very Happy Republic Day. 🇮🇳💫 lets dive into these 6 lessor known facts we all need to know about this day and the parade celebration. 🙌 1) Drafting of the constitution : It drafted by the Drafting Committee headed by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. It took 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days to complete the draft 2) First Republic Day Parade: First parade was held in 1955, five years after the Constitution was adopted. Initially, the parades were held at different venues like Irwin Stadium (now National Stadium), Kingsway, Red Fort, and Ramlila Grounds before Rajpath was chosen as the permanent venue 3) A Christian Hymn : At the first Republic Day celebration, the Indian Air Force Band played the Christian hymn "Abide With Me" which was believed to be one of Mahatma Gandhi's favorite songs. This hymn was played at the end of the Republic Day celebrations every year but was replaced in 2020. 4) Indonesian Influence: The parade tradition was actually influenced by Indonesia. President Sukarno of Indonesia was invited as the chief guest for the first Republic Day celebrations 5) Awards and Medals : Republic Day is also an occasion when bravery awards for children (National Bravery Award), military personnel (Vir Chakra, Mahavir Chakra, Param Vir Chakra), and civilians are distributed. These honors highlight the valor and courage of the individuals in the face of adversity 6) Chief Guests: Every year a foreign dignitary is invited for the parade, promoting diplomatic relationships,.The tradition of inviting a chief guest began in 1950. However, in 1952, 1953, and 1966, there were no foreign chief guests. In 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was no foreign chief guest. #republicday #india #indianarmy #indianairforce #indiannavy #bharat #awards #consititutionofindia

When leadership imposes its will on others - Reflecting on history's lessons: Vietnam (1976), Afghanistan (2015), Iraq (2010), Iran (1960)—instances where America's interference in choosing leaders for other nations backfired, costing us dearly. Today, in 2023, similar misguided efforts persist in Gaza and occupied Palestinian lands. It's time to grasp that supporting Israel's failing strategies only deepens global suffering. Let's prioritize lasting peace. #GlobalPolicy #PeaceFirst

Who Should It Be? Before going off to his expedition against the Khwarezm empire , Genghis Khan needed to choose a successor. In case he didn't make it back. After all, as good as the Mongols were, they had not tried travelling thousands of kilometers through treacherous terrains to attack a formidable opponent. (Khwarezm is not a typo. Its old territories are mostly in Uzbekistan today.) Back in those days, it would usually be the eldest son. But there were doubts over the... parentage of Jochi 术赤, the eldest. Next in line was Chagadai 察合台, the second son. But Genghis wasn't pleased with his disrespectful attitude towards Jochi. Finally, it was down to the third son, Ogedei 窝阔台, and fourth son, Tolui 托雷. Based on capabilities, Tolui should be the one. But one problem-- Genghis wasn't too fond of Tolui's ambitious wife. In the end, Ogedei was chosen because he was nobody's enemy. Ogedei, while a great warrior and commander, had a mild temperament and merciful character. Everyone liked him and was comfortable with him as their khan. Most of us like to believe that leaders should be chosen based on merits, and rightfully so. But in real life, there are many other factors that determine who gets to the top. Because humans are emotional creatures. #axlplanner #leadership #succession #politics #lessonsfromhistory
