On this #IWD24, Monk's Hill Ventures is proud to have invested in companies with meaningful female representation in the founding teams, with a whopping 28% of companies helmed by a female CEO and 60% of companies having a female board member. This is not a box-ticking exercise - we hold both men and women to the same exacting standards and we expect the same accountability and excellence from them, just as founders should demand the same from their investors and board members. As a female founder and now female investor, I wouldn't expect anything less. At its core, we want to back simply the best teams and invest in the best people, including our colleagues. Women represent not only the majority of MHV's workforce but also 53% of our leadership. A recent report from the European Investment Fund reveals that women-led firms have higher environmental, social, and governance scores than other businesses. Additionally, it states that businesses with greater representation of women in leadership positions have better track records of adopting sustainable initiatives and practices. Yet, if you are a woman in business, you still have more obstacles to overcome, and there are few initiatives to support women in high-ranking roles. The We the Women campaign is a global movement to engage the world’s women in shaping global solutions for the future. It is reaching out to the world’s women through various channels. It invites their thoughts, ideas, and aspirations – what is the world they want, how do we get there, and what do they expect from the international community to propel us to this vision? We the Women was launched at the margins of the 2023 SDG Summit by the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed and H.E. Every March since 1987, Congress and U.S. Presidents have designated March as Women’s History Month. For over 10 years running, our media brand The Crude Life has featured a different woman every day of the month. Today’s women in industry are not only modern-day leaders, but truly are defining history. Personally, I believe women are vital in energy. Today more than ever. From a female’s point of view to intuition to specific skill sets, women are vital in energy. I understand there are still many in industry who disagree, however, it is getting better everyday.
