Growing older is a privilege. Enjoy it. Celebrate it. We’re not “past our prime.” With decades of experience and knowledge, this is our PRIME!

I remember in my 30’s I thought I was in my prime. Physically speaking, yes, I was. Mentally, I wasn’t. I am now. I have years of experience from making mistakes, celebrating successes and taking that information to make better decisions. Seeing patterns in the evolution of a project and knowing how to pivot when necessary. If I were a hiring manager, I would lean towards the older candidate for that very reason. I would rather hire someone with years of experience as compared to someone with a shiny new degree and no background experience. The “seasoned” employee is much more valuable to a company’s success.

I couldn't do the work I am doing now without all three of my educational, professional, and parenting experiences. I love Jane Fonda's referring to this time in my life as the "Third Act". If you enjoy theatre, you know the "Third Act" is when the story line comes together. That is certainly how it feels to me. And thanks to a leg-break induced yoga practice, I honestly feel better than ever.

Along with such a privilege, comes responsibility. Please plan ahead and get your estate plan done.

I only wish the privilege wouldn't come with the extra's like bad knee joints or dodgy backs.

Agree but I’d love to see some of these companies stop with the ageism. If you are female and over 50, they don’t even put you in the consideration set! It’s impossible to prove but it is very prevalent. I can’t believe we are dealing with this in this day and age. We have a president, political representatives, CEOs and executives that are 70/80 but women over 50 are treated like their careers are washed up.

Most people think they’re going to live to an old age. However, as we get older we’re reminded that many people pass away early on and how they would wish they had an age to claim, no matter what the number.

It's a lovely ideal, however the amount of women I know in this age group who cannot find work because they are considered old, past it, can't learn new things or just down right too expensive because of their experience, is just heart breaking.

We as a society need to work on the definition of "prime". We cannot allow the beauty, film, TV, publishing and many other industries to define "prime" for women solely based on their looks. They make us miserable and make billions on our feelings of being inadequate. But we are so much more than our looks- we are our experiences, our friendships, our support for our families, our talents and personalities!

I feel like the people who let go of the need to remain young looking and embrace each stage as a gift, are themselves the ones who are most youthful and beautiful, vs. those who cling to the past for dear life - and then just end up looking like an older person who's trying to look younger.
