Few people know that the iconic character of Popeye the Sailor was based on a real person! His name was Frank 'Rocky' Fiegel, born on January 27, 1868, in Poland. He and his family immigrated to America, where Frank joined the Navy in 1887. Later in life, Frank worked at Wiebusch's Tavern in Chester, Illinois, USA, where he became known for his frequent fights, earning a reputation for his strength and toughness. This, along with his distinctive "pop-eye" resulting from a deformed eye, and his habit of always having a pipe in his mouth, inspired the creation of Popeye. Frank was also known for telling stories to local children, often boasting about his strength and attributing it to spinach, much like the fictional Popeye. Elzie Crisler Segar, the creator of Popeye, was from Chester and grew up hearing Frank's tales, which inspired the beloved character. Frank 'Rocky' Fiegel passed away in 1947 at the age of 79, but his legacy lives on through Popeye, the spinach-loving sailor who became a cartoon icon. #Popeye #FrankFiegel #Inspiration #History #CartoonCharacters #Legend

On July 4th we celebrate the courage of those men and women who embraced the idea of freedom and indepedence and sacrificed much to earn it. It took over seven years from the time the Declaration of Independence was signed until the day the British surrendered, but those in the halls of Congress, and those who rallied behind such a powerful ideal didn't know how long the task would last. Today we are honored and inspired by those same "self- evident" truths to continue building a more perfect Union, no matter how long the task will take. Happy Indepedence Day! #independenceday #transformers #distributiontransformers #fieldservices #temporarypower #circulareconomy #sustainability #rentalpower

Your help is needed to spread the word about this important veteran-owned film project. And, we’re not simply talking about history but rather, an amazing story that marks: the first time a British army was forced to surrender in history; the very turning point of the American War for Independence that enabled Benjamin Franklin to forge the crucial Franco-American Alliance; how this providential victory inspired the solemn occasion of the first national American Thanksgiving; the consequential events that allowed a colonial conflict to develop into a world war; and, how the sacred flame of liberty was kept burning during one of the darkest hours of the war when the new American nation desperately needed a miracle. It is a story about courage, faith, grit, heroism, and sacrifice. America’s first patriots did their part in 1777 to save an imperiled revolution. Now, let’s do our part so that this epic story can be brought to the widest possible audience in time for the 250th anniversary on October 17, 2027. In the faded sepia tones of history, an evocative photograph captures Napoleon Hill in the nascent years of his adulthood, likely in his late teens or early twenties. Dressed in a dignified pinstripe suit and tie, Hill suggests an aura of youthful ambition and sophistication. The photograph, a relic of a bygone era, offers a glimpse into Hill's formative years, perhaps during his tenure working for Virginia Governor Rufus A. Ayres. His demeanor suggests a sense of purpose and determination, hinting at the resilience and drive that would later define his illustrious career as a pioneer of personal development and success philosophy. As the sepia hues cast a nostalgic veil over the image, Hill's poised countenance stands as a testament to the transformative journey that would shape his destiny and inspire generations to come. The photograph is housed in the Napoleon Hill Foundation World Headquarters and Archive Offices in Wise, Virginia. #NapoleonHill #thinkandgrowrich #motivation #goals #mindset #inspiration #motivation

One of the ways to best honor those impacted by the events of September 11 is to Learn the Stories of 9/11 Fallen Heroes. In the true spirit of America, heroes were everywhere that day. Some stories will never be known. Some heroic moments were someone's last memory that day. Some courageous experiences took place miles away providing comfort and strength in a time of great need. Each and every one of these stories should be learned, repeated and never forgotten.
