This year's theme is “Protecting, Connecting and Thriving: We Are All Public Health.” Our focus is not just the ways public health serves our communities — protecting our access to clean water and air, to nutritious and safe foods, to the right and ability to access essential health services — but the ways our communities flourish when they have their needs met. The American Public Health Association and National Public Health Week want everyone to know they can make their communities healthier, safer and stronger when we support and stay engaged with one another. As we adjust and adapt to new social norms, we’re focusing not just on what we can do as individuals, but what we can do as communities to protect, prioritize and influence the future of public health. Join us for the Project ECHO on Public Health Series: Principles for Sustainable Community Engagement every other Thursday from 1-2:30 ET. This series consists of 8 sessions where community-based partners, public health experts, and funders come together to explore the significance of engaging with communities, forming lasting relationships, and establishing trust. The sessions include brief presentations, case studies, and interactive discussions. All are welcome to participate in one or more sessions, as diverse perspectives are essential. Spread the word to your peers and collaborators. The series will showcase five CBO partners and collaborators from NNPHI and HRIA who have worked with 42 identity groups in 43 languages in the last 2 years. Emphasizing the importance of sharing culturally diverse stories in communities affected by health disparities and ensuring representation of marginalized groups in national conversations, each session will delve into a Guiding Principle followed by a case study. Facilitated by Fabiola DeCaratachea from the Dolores Huerta Foundation, these dialogues aim to shape the future of public health post-COVID.
