Award-winning author, speaker and advocate who delivers impactful and inspirational keynotes and programming to amplify the voices of women in all their diversity to make Canada more equitable and democratic
This is my granddaughter Charlotte. At 7, she’s fearless. In part, that’s because she hasn’t yet encountered the barriers you and I have dealt with our entire lives. Informed Opinions amplifies the insights of #women and gender-diverse people because when they’re integrated into decisions at every level, we get better outcomes. Research proves that. The voices we help make louder and more effective have exposed problems and offered solutions to everything from child care and the financial system to birth control and climate action. We’re seeking to create a reality in which my Charlotte – and your Zoe, Fatemeh or Grace – are... ...celebrated for their intelligence and abilities… ...paid what they’re worth… ...and protected from harassment and assault... wherever they work. Investing in organizations dedicated to advancing women and girls is the most effective way to create gender equity. Yet less than 2% of all philanthropic support goes to organizations like ours. October 11th is #DayOfTheGirl -- reframed, in light of the above, as "Give to Women and Girls Day". Charlotte and Zoe, Fatemah and Grace are counting on us to be fearless – just like them – in our pursuit of the change we all deserve. Do you want the world to be a more welcoming place for your daughters and granddaughters than it has been for you or your mother and grandmother? If so, and if you have capacity to contribute to making systemic change, we can make strategic and practical use of your support. Together, we can make a better future for women and girls. Charlotte's future is bright thanks to the work you continue to do Shari. (Not to mention her incredible good fortune to have you as a grandma!)
