Amazon is asking employees to come to work five days a week, starting next year! https://lnkd.in/gQq4aa7Z This is certainly an interesting development in the evolution of workplace norms. While in-person interaction has benefits, mandating a full-time return seems to disregard the progress made in remote work. Many employees have demonstrated high levels of productivity and satisfaction with flexible arrangements. This decision may impact employee morale and potentially lead to talent seeking opportunities elsewhere. It's crucial for companies to carefully consider the needs of their workforce when making such policy changes. #amazon

Is the remote work era going to end? This topic gained the limelight as Amazon told employees to work from office 5 days a week. According to Amazon’s CEO Andy Jassy, this decision is made to help the staff be "better set up to invent, collaborate, and be connected enough to each other". This decision could be perceived negatively by many employees who conveniently work from home avoiding commuting. At KIT Global, we have a hybrid work model for team members in countries where offices are located and a fully remote work model for others. We have a healthy work culture where the team is not obliged to fully work from the office. Fostering a positive and productive work culture should be the priority of every organisation. Do you think discontinuing hybrid or remote work culture will help in creating a better work culture with improved productivity? https://lnkd.in/djhg5WAr LinkedIn News LinkedIn News Asia #linkedinnews #remotework

Founder & CEO @ Hiire - Helping Companies Hiring the Talent they Dream | Content Creator & LinkedIn Top Voice | Speaker & Investor
Everyone back in the office at Amazon in 2025. Is this a good or a bad thing? A lot has been talked about work (remote, hybrid, on-site) and how teams are are more productive - at Hiire are a good example of remote work - but we have clients that are hybrid and are equally productive. So what is happening at Amazon is more than a talk about the “remote VS presential” work models. It’s a question of expectations. Of lives prepared around a hybrid or remote work setting. People that has to, now, if they don’t want to lose their jobs, move to the cities where the HQ is. It’s about expectations. Frustrated expectations. In Amazon’s case, they’re ending its hybrid policy, mandating 5-day office weeks starting January. I'm seeing mixed reactions about this change: 👍 Pros: Stronger team connections Improved spontaneous collaboration Reinforced company culture 👎 Cons: Talent loss Reduced work-life balance Increased commute stress This can be a silent way to fire people. This is a bold move in an industry that's been embracing flexibility. What's your take? Will this spark a trend or backfire? Let's discuss! Amazon's CEO, Andy Jassy, has announced a significant shift in the company's work culture. Starting next year, Amazon will require employees to return to the office five days a week, marking the end of remote work practices adopted during the pandemic. Jassy highlighted the importance of in-person collaboration and cultural strengthening as key factors driving this decision. Unlike other tech companies, Amazon's strict mandate on office attendance, with limited exceptions, sets a unique standard. Additionally, the reintroduction of assigned floor plans in US offices will replace hot-desking. Are you #TeamRemote or #TeamOffice? #Amazon #OfficeAttendance #RemoteWork #NewNormal #WorkCulture

Amazon Ends Hybrid Work 🌐 Big changes ahead for Amazon employees! Starting January, Amazon will require all staff to be back in the office five days a week. This decision, announced by CEO Andy Jassy, aims to enhance collaboration and strengthen employee connections. 🌟 Jassy noted that despite the benefits of remote work, it may be affecting Amazon's renowned start-up culture. With over 1.5 million employees globally, Amazon is focusing on reducing bureaucracy and maintaining its competitive edge. A "bureaucracy mailbox" has been introduced for staff to report inefficiencies. 📬 This move contrasts with the UK's push for flexible working as a default right. The debate about remote work continues, but Amazon's return-to-office policy underlines a broader shift among several major companies. What are your thoughts on going back to the office full-time? Let's discuss in the comments! 💬 #Amazon #Workplace #OfficeLife

Amazon tells staff to get back to office five days a week - report by Natalie Sherman writing in the BBC. Amazon is ordering staff back to the office five days a week as it ends its hybrid work policy. The change will come into force from January, Amazon's chief executive Andy Jassy said in a memo to staff. "We’ve decided that we’re going to return to being in the office the way we were before the onset of Covid", Jassy said, adding that it would help staff be "better set up to invent, collaborate, and be connected enough to each other". Mr Jassy has long been known as a sceptic of remote work, but Amazon staff were previously allowed to work from home two days a week. In his message on Monday, Mr Jassy said he was worried that Amazon - which has long prided itself on preserving the intensity of a start-up while growing to become a tech giant - was seeing its corporate culture diluted by flexible work and too many bureaucratic layers. In addition to returning to the office five days a week, Amazon said it would be hot-desking in the US. The company said staff could still work from home in unusual circumstances, such as a sick child or house emergency, as was the case before the pandemic. But unless they have been granted an exemption, Mr Jassy said: "Our expectation is that people will be in the office outside of extenuating circumstances". In his memo, Mr Jassy said that Amazon's experience with its move to a hybrid policy had "strengthened our conviction about the benefits" of working in person. But Nick Bloom, a professor at Stanford, said he did not think the announcements were a sign of a wider shift in work policies, noting that his data has found time spent at the office has been fairly stable for more than a year. "For every high profile company cancelling work-from-home, there's others that seem to be expanding it - they just don't get picked up in the media," he said. read more below: BBC #5daysperweek #remoteworking #inoffice #hybridworking #talentstrategy #flexibility #futureofwork #culture #colloboration #innovation #systemschangethinking https://lnkd.in/eBJ_Xsmu

Amazon ending WFH! The trend for some businesses to end the hybrid working conditions is where Amazon is heading. Covid created a unique situation that made it a necessity to WFH for long periods, however a hybrid work condition that resulted in a new normal for most companies allowing staff to choose where they worked from was then created in the subsequent years. Companies and nations have also looked at changing the number of days and times people worked. However some businesses have been eager to get their workforce back to the office and Amazon along with Tesla and some other big hitters have mandated their staff back into the office. Time will tell how this plays out and whether the best talent work for companies dependent on their WFH policy.

I help organizations build amazing workplaces by engaging and retaining their most important asset - people. CEO-Work Institute and author of best-seller EmployER Engagement
Amazon's recent announcement regarding employees returning to the office full-time has sparked mixed reactions. While some business groups are supportive, there seems to be hesitation among employees. I recognize the desire for a cohesive office environment, yet I believe that a flexible approach to remote work can be equally effective. Maybe more importantly, I think flexibility is what is demanded of today's workforce. It's vital that employers engage in meaningful conversations with their teams to create tailored solutions that work for both sides, instead of resorting to blanket policies. I worry that some companies prefer to avoid the tough, individualized discussions about which roles can function remotely. Opting for a one-size-fits-all policy feels like an "easy button" approach to avoid difficult converations. Am I wrong to think that? Is this the end of an era? Amazon have recently announced that from January 2025 they intend to call an end to remote working and return to the pre-pandemic norm. All staff will be required to be in the office five days a week. As a recruiter, I have seen a definite shift in Clients wanting to bring employees back into the office and reduce working from home options. However, the reverse is true of candidates who still put a high level of priority on the flexibility of working from home. This has been the biggest challenge when matching candidates in a number of recruitment projects. The CEO of Amazon said “When we look back over the last five years, we continue to believe that the advantages of being together in the office are significant… it’s easier for our teammates to learn, model, practice and strengthen our culture; collaborating, brainstorming and inventing are simpler and more effective; teaching and learning from one another are more seamless; and teams tend to be better connected to one another.” https://lnkd.in/eMgk7iZ7

2wAmazon’s 5-day office return is a bold move, aligning with the need for vibrant urban centers reliant on office workers. Andy Jassy’s decision isn’t just about productivity but also supporting cities that thrive on in-office work. Employees valuing collaboration should be prioritized, while those committed to remote work might find better opportunities elsewhere. For a company of Amazon’s scale, an in-office team is vital for fostering engagement with both the workplace and the local economy. This shift may help cities retain workers excited about office culture while allowing others to pursue remote-first jobs.
