Why has RH, formerly Restoration Hardware, become a luxury restaurant chain? It’s 11 a.m. on a Sunday, and the Palm Court restaurant at RH is filling up with brunchers. The vibe is Miami, Dubai, Vegas — though this, improbably, is San Francisco. It is also Cleveland, Palo Alto, Jacksonville, cities where RH, the Marin-based home furnishings company, operates restaurants within its stores, which it calls “galleries.” A look into the San Francisco store where you can buy a $14,000 chandelier and eat a $110 steak.

Welcome to RH. Can we offer you a $110 steak while you’re couch shopping?
