I had the pleasure of contributing this brief insight in support of nonprofit leaders who aim to build healthy thriving organizations. "A toxic work culture that is left unchecked is one of the sure signs that an organization is at high risk of failure. The toxicity can be a product of harmful and undisciplined actions and/or consistent inaction in the face of harm. A leader must disrupt behaviors that normalize the bad culture and reinforce systems and structures that reflect the desired organizational culture." At Community Resource Exchange, we uplift the importance of not only having clarity around an organization's external value proposition, but also, their internal value proposition. The promise we make to the communities that we serve is just as important as the promise we make to each other as colleagues advancing towards a mission. All too often, we see teams flounder because their commitment to each other is lacking despite a commitment to their mission. #nonprofit #nonprofitleadership

Navigating philanthropy in uncertain times is akin to a surfer riding waves. One must adapt to the current conditions, innovate when the conditions are not cooperating and use the waves to create momentum—ultimately propelling the program to the next large wave, initiative and impact. By skillfully riding the waves of change, organizations can sustain their missions, make a lasting impact on those they serve and emerge stronger. Check out this piece from Accordant's Heather Wiley Starankovic, CFRE, CAP, and John Donovan, to learn about the benefits of campaigning in times of uncertainty and financial challenges: https://ow.ly/pUw750SOW7B #healthcare #philanthropy #campaigns #strategy

Campaigns are a valuable lever to accelerate successful health care philanthropy programs. Many successful programs are in “constant campaign,” either planning, conducting or wrapping up a campaign at any given time. Campaigns represent a high ROI development activity which can buoy an organization’s fiscal capacity in today’s fluid health care financial environment. However, many leaders aren’t sure where to start when it comes to campaigns. They often ask: “How do we know if we are ready to start a campaign?” or “What does an organization need to have in place to plan and execute a successful campaign?” Here's a checklist from Accordant's Heather Wiley Starankovic, CFRE, CAP, to help you get campaign ready: https://ow.ly/Ka9z50Qu6pJ #healthcare #philanthropy #campaign

Health care organizations who wish to build a planned giving program often take a huge misstep when they begin, prompting initial thoughts and questions such as: “Hey, I need a brochure. Who should I talk to about a website?” Or, “Some of our board members think we need to ask for planned gifts. Let’s do a mailing." Taking this Band-Aid approach isn’t how to build a program. Rather, it’s about building a culture—one that requires a team effort where all members of the philanthropy team are involved, from the back office to the front line. Yet, many organizations view starting a planned giving program as an effort only a subject matter expert can handle. Although there is some truth to this regarding specific aspects of sophisticated planned giving methods/vehicles, it’s far from the overall truth. Check out this piece from Accordant's James Gold on how organizations can start building a culture of planned giving that will yield long lasting results: https://ow.ly/bEhs50SKTm1 #healthcare #philanthropy #plannedgiving #culture
