Don't stand in your own way. Clients sometimes have a hard time asking for and accepting the help of a patient advocate. The best thing to do is thoroughly research the advocate you are interested in hiring, make sure that their values and work stand in line with what you hope to accomplish. Trust is built along the way, but an advocate's outcomes are measured by our clients willingness to accept help. Our advocates are here for you to help shoulder the burden and get things done. #patientadvocate #completeidnity

😷🩺 SATELLITE CLINIC: OCEA Steward Genesis Velez, a Medical Assistant for the adult jail and Men’s Jail, has great news out of the Orange County Case Management Department. The department has been developing a strategy to establish a specialty clinic office at Theo Lacy since the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative allows patients to have telemedicine appointments with hospital providers. That plan became a reality in late 2023, Velez said. The introduction of the satellite clinic represents a beneficial outcome for patients, medical service staff and the Sheriff’s Department. Advantages include: patients more cooperative to attend doctors appointments as they no longer have to travel; fewer appointment reschedules; reduced number of patient transports by OCSD; and enhanced community safety. Velez said the project’s success is the result of the dedicated teamwork of every staff member in the Case Management Department, with the support of the Sheriff’s Department. #OCEAstrong #OrangeCountyEmployeesAssociation #California #LaborUnion #PublicEmployees #COVID19

https://lnkd.in/eUMBN5G9 Whistleblowers in the NHS are treated like criminals - worse actually because they have done NOTHING wrong. They raise concerns (Duty of Candour remember) about patient safety and are rewarded by being dismissed (after long periods of bullying and harassment). To restore their careers and earning capacity, they resort to the iniquitous Employment Tribunal system and the corrupted Judiciary. 97% of Claimants lose their case! Open and fair justice? Give me strength! Now listen to this by a champion of whistleblowers, Professor Jane Somerville:

My mom, who was a nurse, inspired me to speak up for the people I care for, including the many survivors I work with on a daily basis. This same, unspoken policy also exists for hospital admin who witness cases of sexual abuse in their workplaces. Otherwise, they may unintentionally allow harmful actions to continue. This can undoubtedly be difficult to do, so we’ve outlined steps in the video below, as well as this blog post: https://hubs.la/Q02dhHZQ0. Plus, feel free to share any other thoughts you have in the comments section below. #MedicalMalpractice #InstitutionalNegligence #Healthcare #Hospital #PatientSafety

Dr. Mary McCaffrey, Consultant Obstetrician/Gynaecologist, is a Senior Medical Advisor with MPS, and is Deputy Coroner for Cork City. Dr. McCaffrey previously worked as a Gynaecologist at Limerick Women’s Prison.
What should the role of a patient advocate be? Having navigated the healthcare services on behalf of two relatives, plus observing friends in the same position, I don’t know how people cope without any medical knowledge! Despite two of us with medical and regulatory expertise the experience was quite traumatic. So… I got thinking about why we don’t have a strong patient advocacy role like other countries. When you Google patient advocate for HSE it is all about helping to make a complaint, I don’t think that is what patients need as first line #patientexperience #patientadvocacy

I guess I was spoiled in the #HealthcareIT industry. The industry had so many media sources and authorities to help drive priorities and learn about what end users need. Anyone got recommendations of follows, news sources, etc for Criminal Justice Information Systems? #CJIS #TechnologySolutions #IToperations #ProductManagement

Join us TODAY for our third and final mixer as we continue to identify gaps in the continuum of care that currently exist for patients suffering from substance use disorders. EMS and the emergency departments often encounter patients in times of crisis. There's often a lack of continuity on the road to treatment and resources that occurs. During this panel we will discuss how EMS and the ER can stand up this gap in services and help usher patients to appropriate resources. This is fast becoming a standard of care across the country, and we need to take a more regional approach here in southern Nevada to standardize our processes and policies. Come join us TODAY August 22, 2024 to be part of the discussion!
