Pleased to share our latest working paper titled "Identifying the Collective Reputation Premium: A Spatial Discontinuity Approach," co-authored with S. Castriota and P. Frumento. In competitive markets, building a strong reputation is key to reducing price competition and boosting profits. However, isolating the impact of collective reputation on pricing, apart from other variables like quality and firm reputation, poses a significant challenge. Our research leverages an extensive database of Italian geolocalized wineries and examines spatial discontinuity at the borders of wine appellation areas in Piedmont and Tuscany. Our findings reveal that collective reputation commands a significant price premium for well-known appellations, while for less-known ones, the effect can be insignificant or even negative. This indicates that an overabundance of collective brands may confuse buyers and potentially be detrimental. Our new paper has been published in Beverages MDPI entitled: Investigation of Xinomavro Red Wine Aging with Various Wood Chips Using Pulsed Electric Field 💪 👏 This study explored the potential of pulsed electric field (PEF) as an alternative wine-aging method in Xinomavro red wines with the implementation of several wood chips.
