Designing customizable futures in Design-Build, with solid foundations through our Internship and Level-up programs.
I'm grateful to Ancon Construction Company for a great internship experience this summer. Ancon is a design-build commercial construction company with a diverse portfolio of projects. I had the privilege to work with an Architect and Designers as a part of Ancon's design division this summer; the Ancon team provided me with great mentorship, skills, and lasting relationships.

Last week was the end of my internship with the HDR Folsom office and San Francisco office, and it is bittersweet to leave behind many close faces as I am entering a new journey back to school. For the last 7 months with HDR, I was able to see significant growth from day 1 to this point, and I cannot express my gratitude with words alone to those who made this time and opportunity possible/enjoyable. Throughout the internship, I had an enriching experience building my personal growth and professional skills/knowledge across diverse project types in life-science, federal, water, and warehouse across tasks, including working on CD production, technical details, coordination with MEPs and consultants, CA, and so much more about the reality of the world! Some other lessons I’ve learned: Communication is Key: I think of it as a sort of tree roots to leaves, where one information needs to travel down multiple ways to reach many leaves. In the work of collaborative space, it is crucial to update information across every member associated with a project, especially to not forget to cc email! On the other hand, some information should only be shared through the supervisor, PM, or point of contact, which helps to avoid confusion. Sometimes, calling is better than waiting on Webex for one to respond, which helps to facilitate coordination. The good question comes later: in the first few weeks, I was conscious of myself if I was asking “good questions”. But the truth is, a good question can only be generated/expanded once the foundation of knowledge is built; Then, I can generate questions, which become an essential means of resolving uncertainties of a project, addressing issues, and sharing information to have everyone on the same page, ultimately tying back to communication. It’s OKAY to accept where you are: sometimes, I question myself whether I am doing great in my role, and such self-assessment can lead to inner doubt and struggle. But, the real question I should be asking is: Am I a better version of myself than yesterday? That’s everything! Architecture is not just designing buildings: It comprises many considerations, phases, execution of construction, elements that occupy in/out of the building: clearance zones, equipment, relocation of existing facility and CUPs, quality control, and many more! I cannot wait to dive deeper in growing my knowledge even further in coming years :D I truly enjoyed my time here and feel honored to work with such brilliant and amazing people with different expertise and backgrounds, and I was able to understand their different perspectives to go about coordinating the project. Without guidance/direction, I would not have been where I am today, and I appreciate every opportunity that I was provided and all the fun memories with the HDR family. Thank you everyone for being on my journey for the past 7 months! :D

Starting a new job in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry can be daunting. Especially for women and non-binary folks. But what if we empowered them to succeed on site? Nora Spencer, MSW, founder of Hope Renovations, empowers women and non-binary people through construction training and internship programs. Nora says, "When you hold power tools in your hands among a group of supportive women, your confidence soars! It instills a newfound self-belief, perhaps never tapped into before." Director of Brand Marketing | Strategic Partnerships | 3x HGTV ‘Rock the Block’ Winner | Former Disney
I had a chance to visit the Emerson College Los Angeles last week, and besides my uncontainable enthusiasm with another masterpiece of Architect Thom Mayne, I took a couple branding lessons. Emerson College is one of the top film schools in the country, and the LA campus was built as a satellite to accomodate 200 Senior studens of the Boston campus who come for a semester-long internship program in LaLaLand, the most important hub of the entertainment industry. With that in mind: - Investing in a state-of-the-art campus was a priority in order to offer the best possible experiences to the students, Emerson’s primary customers, offering innovative academic solutions while expanding interactive, social aspects of education. They make it clear that community is an essential value of their brand. - By choosing world acclaimed Architect Thom Mayne and his office Morphosis to lead the campus’ design, Emerson immediately puts its building on the Los Angeles’ landmarks map and creates a statement on innovation that will propel its brand for years to come. An incontestably impactful exposure. - By celebrating a design language that translates its brand values and vision, Emerson also created a secondary and powerful source of revenue by locating the facilities for movie, TV and commercial productions interested in framing its sculptural shapes on the screen, reason of my visit. Have you ever thought about how the values of your brand can be experienced by your customers in unique ways? When working on your business plan for the year, are you able to anticipate how your customers should feel in each touchpoint of their journey with your brand? Leave in the comments! This is what a Brand Architect does! :-) Thank you Tatiana Barzaghi for sharing your time, knowledge and courtesy, making my entire experience even better. #customerexperience #marketing #customerretention #branding #partnership #businessplanning #brandbuilding #brandmatchmaker #bmmmarketing

I work with my dad on construction and I set up cabinets, adding shelf pins, white caps, bumper pads, and setting up crowns and calking them. I wish to own my own installation company and have employees work under me.
https://lnkd.in/e_h_aHCy The link above is the site that I posted at the beginning of my internship to show everyone the ins and outs of what I do. 2 of the points that I chose from this site are about "Measuring for accuracy" and "Planning, scheduling and communication” back then. The site emphasizes the importance of measuring for accuracy and planning, scheduling, and communication in the construction process. Accuracy is crucial as it ensures that cabinets and shelves fit within their designated spaces. Planning, scheduling, and communication are also crucial as mistakes can lead to wasted time and effort. For instance, if cabinets and shelves are incorrectly chosen, the process can be time-consuming and wasteful, resulting in wasted time and effort. Therefore, it is essential to prioritize these aspects in the construction process. #alpineinternships #mountainlandcte Alpine School District
