People often say it's challenging to get parents to participate and show up at school events. The solution is simple: create enjoyable and engaging environments at school, and the parents will be more likely to attend and offer support. Today, we served 55 dozen donuts, and multiple cups of orange juice, and played some soothing music to create a comfortable environment for parents to have breakfast with their kids. Keys to Get Parents Involved: 1. Establish a strong PTA. 2. Create events that cater to the entire family. 3. Engage and talk with the parents and kids during the event. 4. Communicate, Communicate, Communicate. (Before the event) 5. Provide world-class service during the event. 6. Thank them for showing up.

Being a youth pastor usually means you're not just planning a teaching series each month... you're also hosting events. They’re a way to connect with students and their families, and even get new people in the door! Events matter, but hosting them regularly doesn't have to mean hosting them every month. That’s why we’re fans of keeping your events strategy really simple! Because you can make a bigger impact each year if you focus on fewer events that can make the most impact. We started running Fraterniteas way back....in 2019, as a way of giving back to the learning community for our 20th anniversary. It's our 25th year and we're still going strong. What's a Fraternitea you ask? A monthly learning event run by a Navgati facilitator, always online, always free to attend, always focusing on a topic that we find interesting or want to learn more about (the best way to learn something is to share it with someone else). This month, we're finding a way to reframe failures and mistakes with the wonderfully talented Meghna Singhee with concepts drawn from the book Rising Strong by Brene Brown. Come join us, bring your kids, grandparents and dogs (ok fine, cats also welcome even though they never make any mistakes). Third Thursday of the month at Three - ie the 20th of June. Register using the link in the first comment or get some exercise and type it out yourself. #learninganddevelopment #selfawareness
