As the world moves towards automation and AI, we are presented with an incredible opportunity to challenge traditional gender roles within manufacturing and promote greater inclusion and diversity. Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany is at the forefront of this movement. With a U.S. footprint of more than 15,500 employees across 74 facilities in 22 states and the District of Columbia, over half of our facilities are dedicated to manufacturing. This requires that we grow and recruit a diverse set of candidates to work at the forefront of science and technology. It is essential that we continue to engage with students, parents, and educators to reinforce a positive message about the exciting career opportunities that exist within manufacturing. I applaud the Department of Commerce for their efforts to address this crucial topic. It was an honor to serve on a panel alongside Megan Myungwon Lee and Beatrix Praeceptor to discuss women in manufacturing with Under Secretary Marisa Lago at the SelectUSA Summit. I am encouraged by the conversation and the focus from both the public and private sector and believe these efforts will help women make great strides in manufacturing. #SelectUSASummit #Manufacturing

Thank you for sharing Maike! May I suggest you also check out an incredible organization Women in Manufacturing that promotes and supports #womeninmanufacturing. It really is encouraging that the attraction of women into manufacturing was a topic at the SelectUSA conference.

Really great to listen to this conversation among such accomplished leaders (who just happen to be women)! Thank you for sharing your insights and experiences.
