I'm thrilled to share the news of the release of American International Recruitment Council (AIRC) 2024-2027 Strategic Plan, which I had the honor of co-chairing. This strategic document delineates AIRC's vision and objectives for the forthcoming three years, focusing on pivotal areas of development and excellence. The plan is committed to: - Fortifying AIRC's influence and upholding the highest standards within the International Education Management (IEM) sector. - Broadening AIRC's membership to incorporate diverse and global perspectives, thus fostering sustainable growth. - Advancing research, offering publication opportunities, and championing the IEM field. Serving as co-chair with Clay Harmon, EdD on this task force, with a group of fantastic and highly experienced colleagues has been an honor, particularly when student mobility has reached unprecedented levels and is positioned to further rise. Universities worldwide are adopting proactive international enrollment strategies, and a multitude of stakeholders—including counselors and various service providers—are integral to enabling students to achieve their academic aspirations. After months of negotiations and numerous last-minute extensions, the President signed into law the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act, which funds the FAA through FY 2028 with over $105 billion in appropriations. The global Aerospace and Defense market has grown at a whopping 11.5% compound annual growth rate just in the past year, and is projected to grow at about half that through 2028. For a variety of reasons, North America will be the largest recipient of that growth, with small businesses being the greatest beneficiaries of all. Often the unsung heroes of the defense industry, small businesses constitute 99.9% of all U.S. businesses, 73% of companies in the defense industrial base, and more than half of all American employees work for a small business as they are a critical contributor to our national security.
