Training community facilitators on child protection mechanisms could be challenging, but incorporating fun activities can make it easier, enjoyable, and, most importantly, effective. These activities not only engage participants but also enhance their understanding and retention of crucial information. By creating a positive and interactive learning environment, facilitators are better equipped to implement these mechanisms in their communities, ultimately leading to improved outcomes for child protection. #communityempowerment #childprotection #children #childinneed

All views are my own.I’m spending time considering the role and position of story in communities because I’m curious how many live in emotional poverty - an unconscious reflection of disconnect from ourselves & nature?
Being an educational professional with an interest in how power and control can be positioned in an educational relationship means I consciously choose to consider my privilege. There are times that others choose to observe my practice and pedagogy especially when I scaffold a learner whose body and language suggests they are disregulated. I’ve often been asked, what is it that you do? I choose to consciously demonstrate calmness, respect and safety. That means I validate what I hear. I let the learner share their language as I know this will support them to decompress their body and brain. When I act in this way I wonder if it lets the surges of adrenaline and cortisol to be processed and released. I’ve often wondered if my approach creates a scaffolded gateway for intense feelings to exit the body and brain. We all know that saying, I’ve never met anyone who could calm down when they’ve been told to calm down. My motivation is to foster and promote trust. No matter what a learner chooses to do or say I choose to be consistent, patient and kind. That approach isn’t so unconventional in education now and I know that is a good thing because my aspiration is for children to remember that feeling in their body so they know how to access it another time.
For some children, teachers will be the only model of safety, trust and nurturing they have experienced. Some children are constantly looking for safety and connection. Teachers can provide valuable, consistent and sustained moments of connection which help us develop, grow and thrive. #teachersmatter #teachers #connectioncounts #traumaaware #schoolsmatter #childhoodtrauma #trauma #trust #chasingnormalmemoir #livedexperience

At Body Safety Academy we highlight the importance of teaching children the anatomical names of their private parts. Emphasizing that using pet names can lead to confusion, limitations, and potential negative consequences. By using correct terms, children can better understand their bodies, develop healthy body image, and receive comprehensive body safety education. This approach helps demystify shame and fear associated with private parts, fostering open communication and empowering children. Key points: 1. Pet names can lead to confusion and limitations in understanding private parts. 2. Anatomical names should be taught from the start, just like other body parts. 3. Using correct terms helps children understand body safety education and develop protective strategies. #RaiseDontRuin 4. Ignorance is not a form of preservation; rather, it can hinder children's ability to learn and protect themselves. #RaiseDontRuin Our advocacy for teaching correct terms aligns with best practices in child development and body safety education. By promoting open and informed conversations, we can help children develop healthy relationships with their bodies and build a strong foundation for their well-being. #RaiseDontRuin #SocialImpact #CSA #Consent #Boundaries #BodySafetyEd #InappropriateTouches
