The "whole-of-society" approach message coming out of this document really resonates with me. That means EVERYONE needs to consider and think about Wildfire in BC. That is powerful. Thank you to the Polis Wildfire Resilience Project for providing a resource that can lead to solutions. We have some hard questions to answer. What will we lose to fire? What is most important to protect from fire? How can we do things differently? What does resilience mean to us as a society? We will not avoid fire on the landscape and perhaps trying to do so is a part of why were are where we are today. #wildfireresilience #polisproject #ecologicalgovernance Research Publications - The POLIS Wildfire Resilience Project (poliswildfireproject.org)

The 5th anniversary of the #CampFire reminds us of the catastrophic reach of #wildfires in suburban communities. These disasters have increased in frequency and can occur anywhere making wildfire resilience more important than ever. States, municipalities, neighborhoods, neighbors and individual homeowners can reduce their risk through uniformly enforced statewide codes, parcel-level mitigation actions and protection plans. Some states and communities, like the Town of Paradise, have pressed forward to significantly reduce vulnerability to devastating wildfires. We all have work to do to reduce the threat and increase the resiliency of our communities. https://lnkd.in/ghBtVTVT

I appreciate that this article is embracing the complexity of the wildfire issue. There will be a lot to learn from what happened in Jasper if people are willing to look a little more deeply and accept there are multiple factors driving the wildfire crisis. Which will lead to multi-layered (and complex) solutions.
