I feel very fortunate to have colleagues and experts in our organization like you Nikos Mazarakis . Thank you very much for sharing this very informative and experience-based article. Technology certainly doesn't make sense without such expertise. Feeding our modern tools with such good knowledge and experience, and making them available to our customers, sets us apart in a unique way. Our on board route optimization tool "s-Planner" is the only on board application in the shipping market that graphically displays the danger area around a tropical cyclone based on official meteorological advisories. Pls have a look at the attached article via the link below if you are interested in how we combine our expertise with the technology! #shipping #weatherrouting #routing #weather

Due to the unusually warm ocean waters this year, the hurricane season has been notably more intense. I have written an article for mariners that delves into the nature of tropical cyclones and provides guidance on how to avoid them. https://lnkd.in/gXsvj_ur #shipping #weather #hurricanes

We can thank the Sahara for dampening the hyperactive storm season temporarily. From ABC's 16 WAPT, "The main reason behind the quiet tropics in the Atlantic Basin is a thick plume of Saharan dust. Dry air like Saharan dust makes it very difficult for a tropical system to form and intensify." The Saharan Dust will impede storm formation in the Atlantic Basin for 7 to 10 days, but the peak of this year's nascent storm season is expected mid-September. We are still weeks away from the end of the Atlantic hurricane season. But it is never too early to realize that over time storms are becoming more frequent and impactful. According to the CBA, the annual economic cost in terms of wind damage and flooding alone of the average storm season exceeds $50 billion in the US. Without a doubt, these impacts will affect the private sector especially in light of insurance and reinsurance carriers reconsidering some of their regional markets. Time for some resilience planning and maybe managed retreat! Check out my latest report on the economic costs of tropical cyclones. 🔎I'm a tropical storm with sustained winds of at least 74 miles per hour. How would you call me? a) A cyclone b) A hurricane c) A typhoon Drum roll… You’re right! How do I know? All these words actually describe the same phenomenon! These tropical storms are only called differently based on where they develop: ✅ Cyclones 👉 South Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean ✅Hurricanes 👉 Atlantic Ocean and Northeast Pacific Ocean ✅ Typhoons 👉 Northwest Pacific Ocean 💬Fun fact: The same classification is used in French, with the words “cyclones”, “ouragans” and “typhons”. Had you ever noticed these differences before? #environmentaltranslation #xl8 #linguistics #frenchtranslator

🌀 As #HURRICANEBERYL's path becomes more defined, should you find yourself potentially impacted please look at some steps to better ready yourself for the those effects. 🌀 Also keep in mind, if you need to evacuate, returning to a storm compromised area could take some time. Evaluation of structures, power sources and other Public Health & Safety aspects of post storm assessment may make access to the areas extremely limited for several days and beyond. #ATIRESTORATION is well positioned to assist once areas become available and permitted for access. 🌀 #HURRICANEBERYL #ATIHURRICANEPREPAREDNESS #ATIRESTORATION #COMMERCIALRESTORATION #HEALTHCARERESTORATION #MULTIFAMILYRESTORATION #MUNICIPALITYRESTORATION #EDUCATIONALFACILITIESRESTORATION John Stalsworth 972.589.0606 [email protected]
