You don't see many #comments on my posts. Most of them get made "behind the scenes" - verbal comments, emails, dm's - and idle #gossip about "town". I suppose it comes with the territory when one openly supports #lawenforcement in this country today. As a fierce #advocate for the #firstmendment, I stand by all of my statements and all of my convictions. Those who have done business with me throughout MANY years, know me to be a fierce #competitor. Who doesn't like to #lose. I generally don't. Not because I am that good - but because "I only know how to go one direction. And that is - #right." (Wooten) Slander Per Se Another type of slander automatically receives general damages without needing to prove special damages. This is because certain types of harmful statements are already considered damaging. For this to happen, the slander must fall into one of the following categories: 👉 making false accusations of a crime against someone. 👉 making untrue statements about someone’s character or integrity. 👉 disseminating false information about someone’s professional competence. 👉 stating falsehoods about someone’s health or medical condition. 👉 Another individual is spreading false stories or talking negatively about the person in question. What is truth? Let’s start with what it’s not.. It is not a feeling, suspicion or opinion… and while these things may be a catalyst that spurs your desire to want to get to “Get The Bottom of It” … where do you start … certainly not by asking the person you believe is being less that honest … Truth is a culmination of rock solid facts … I was on a case not long back where I was surveilling a would be cheating spouse … my handy camcorder & I got footage in the dark of her making out with her paramour in his truck.. down to the capture of her eyelashes blinking … and yet she maintained to her husband and father of their children that it was “all in his head” she just works with this guy & they are just coworker/friends .. this paramour even called the client and told him he had it all wrong he knew she was married and wouldn’t cross those lines he’s a respectable man… the client could have believed that … and might have if there was not evidence to prove otherwise…. I am a natural born Truth Seeker … I think this helps make me exceptionally good at this part my job…. And I am now partnered with 2 local Private Investigation Firms to expand the services I can offer to you .. located between San Antonio & Austin Texas .. but I’ll go anywhere you or your client need me .. I am deeply grateful to Julie Kun for including the following two quotes from me in her powerful submission: 1: Quote 1 (about the importance of trust) “For me to trust a financial service provider enough to discuss the financial abuse I have experienced, I need to know that their staff have received specific training on how to respond to disclosures of domestic and family violence. I do not expect a person working in the finance sector to perform the role of a social worker, but I do need them to treat me with compassion, respect and belief. It is not the role of a financial service provider to echo the behaviour of my perpetrator and seek to gaslight me by attempting to investigate whether I am actually a victim-survivor of domestic, family or sexual violence. If I have found the courage to disclose such sensitive information to an employee of your organisation because the financial abuse is causing me immediate financial hardship, then they need to use active-listening skills, work with me to find a targeted solution relevant to my current circumstances, and provide appropriate referrals to other services when needed.” 💰💸 2: Quote 2 (about victim-survivors having their experiences solution-centred); “So many financial service providers get so fixated on the barriers and limitations to the types of support they can provide to victim-survivors of financial abuse, that they lose sight of the many and varied ways that they can provide targeted case-by-case assistance. My message to finance sector professionals is to treat people who disclose that they have experienced domestic, family or sexual violence as the experts in their own lives. People who have been financially abused do not have poor budgeting skills or have recklessly made bad financial decisions. They have been coercively controlled and often a victim-survivor only learns the full extent of the financial damage a perpetrator has caused to them once the relationship has ended. Whilst there will be similarities, each victim-survivors’ experience of abuse is unique and therefore it is vitally important that financial services do not apply a ‘one-sized-fits-all’ response model and instead has a solution-focused approach that is flexible and tailored to each victim-survivor’s situation.” 💰💸

cw land theft, genocide, slavery White people: we need to collect our cousins. Claiming DEI means "didn't earn it" is dangerous and untrue. It's dangerous because stoking white racism leads to violence. It's untrue because DEI is about ensuring that people who HAVE earned it - have more than earned it- get access to the opportunities that people like me- white people- have that we did not earn. The US government stole land from Native people, committed genocide, and forced survivors to move to far-off reservations, then gave their land to European immigrants, including my great-grandfather. White people enslaved Black people, torturing them to extract their labor for free for 246 years, then inflicted mob violence on them for another hundred years, while deliberately withholding opportunities, so that no matter how hard they worked, they would not be able to accumulate wealth to pass to the next generation. Laws and customs prevented Latine and Asian Americans from accumulating wealth, too. A Homestead Act land grant financed my mom's college degree. My grandfather and father qualified for mortgages through the GI Bill. They passed these advantages to me, setting me up to graduate from college and become a middle-class homeowner. All of these advantages accrued to my family not because we "earned" it, but because we are white. Now 44% of Millennials and 47% of Gen Z in the US are Global Majority people. And despite all the harm our racist, sexist, ableist systems did to their ancestors and to them, they earned their way into the workplace. A workplace dominated by people like me with tremendous unearned advantages. Who get our jobs not through our qualifications but through our connections and returning favors. Who don't rock the boat. And now some of us dare to say they "didn't earn it." DEI addresses historical and contemporary inequities so that there is a level playing field and everyone has access to opportunities and the specific resources they need to thrive, and is respected and belongs in the workplace. DEI makes the workplace better, more innovative, more aligned with markets and prepared for the future. The only people who "didn't earn it" are people like me. #DEI

National Missing Person's Week starts today Young men have been vanishing from outback towns in northern Western Australia, highlighting a troubling trend in missing persons cases in the region. Wesley Lockyer, Clinton Lockyer, and Zane Stevens are among those who have disappeared, leaving their families in a state of ambiguous loss. Despite an increase in missing persons reports across Australia, local Aboriginal communities feel their cases aren't receiving adequate attention. A key development in addressing this issue is the establishment of a national missing persons DNA database by the Australian Federal Police (AFP). This database has successfully resolved 19 cases by matching unidentified remains with missing persons. The initiative aims to improve investigations into long-term missing persons cases through advanced forensic techniques. The disappearances have sparked local protests, with families demanding more rigorous investigations and equal treatment for all missing persons. They argue that the classification of these cases as "missing persons" rather than suspected homicides hinders the allocation of resources and the pursuit of justice. Great results by all those involved Harrow Council in recovering four properties subject to tenancy fraud and saving £350,000 of public funds. At a time when there is such a demand for social housing, it is fantastic to see social homes that have been subject to fraud being recovered so that they can be made available to those in real need, but also to see the perpetrators of those frauds being held accountable for their actions. 💡 Did you know, April is also Second Chance Awareness Month? 🙈 During the entire (almost) 13 years I served up until I took my first position with CareerSource in July of 2022, I lived in a bubble, and what I say next might take a minute to read. If you opt to skip, I request you to check out the links at the bottom, at very least. Sure, I was aware and recognized veterans are people and people aren't perfect. People make bad life choices, people don't always have the drive or motivation of others, and people end up homeless, with substance abuse issues, and making destructive choices. Afterall, if it wasn't a thing, there wouldn't be countless commercials, flyers, support organizations, and programs to support this population, right? Being that I was never personally exposed to veterans in these situations, my comprehension was literally just surface level. When I took my case manager position, that bubble popped. I was now knee deep in veteran clients seeking employment opportunities, but are grossly limited due to felonies, substance abuse, and in dire need for income. That dire need combined with limited (and typically, low paying) jobs, and sometimes hard to find resources, information, and training opportunities to better themselves. This situation potentially (but often, from what I've seen) leads to that person's family also living in poverty, or without access/ability to better themselves, and ultimately starting or forwarding this cycle on to the next generation. I say all of this in an effort to snap others out of the same bubble I was in. Our communities, like teams, are only as strong as the weakest link.
