We wanted to extend our gratitude to our Industry Sponsor Sponsors for our 2024 Cable-Tec Games. You contributions bring our industry together for these important events, support learning and development, and make a meaningful impact to our chapter. SCTE Rocky Mountain Chapter conducted the first virtual Symposium (entitled “Symposium in a Box”) in 2020 amid a global pandemic. The Rocky Mountain Chapter, led by President Larry Wolcott, needed to find ways to connect with our membership during this unprecedented time of uncertainty. Larry and his team created a unique event, with online webinars, engaging talks, interactive discussions to keep our membership connected to the chapter. The team also assembled hundreds of “goody boxes” with swag, food and other items which were shipped to our members homes to help celebrate the event. This event ultimately helped the chapter win numerous awards, including Chapter of the Year in 2020 (and again in 2021). #CableTecGames2024 #sctermc

June was a pretty interesting month for us down at the center. As we push into the heat of the summer we get to kick off some of my favorite programing, CAMPS. Kids love gaming, that much we know is true simply by the numbers (97% game 3 hours+ per week). It's awesome that we get a chance to teach them proper gaming habits in the home of the CHSAA finals each year. With warmups and stretching in the morning, 1 hour up 1 hour down mentality through the day, and games that are built to teach them teamwork and problem solving it feels like laying the foundation of those next players. It brings kids together and helps them make friends with other gamers, which I can't see that as anything but the best thing possible for them. Also had a great opportunity this month to head out to the Eyewear Artwalk event at the McNichols Center in Denver. This event was highlighting eyewear tech and developments in that industry. Eyewear in gaming has always been somewhat of an abstract concept as many players simply eschew it. I will say after my time out there and some of the new developments in gaming lens' I'm on board. The way the new lens' sharpen the picture pixel by pixel that you see before you while gaming is very impressive. Expect to see some further developments on this in the upcoming months, I'm wearing them now in fact............ Add all that on top of the Birthdays, Bachelor party, Denver Parks and Rec visits (40-60 kids!), keyboard meetup, SSBU, Melee, Brawl, CS2, OSU, Rare Air Regional, and our regulars coming out and it was a solid month. Currently working on LAN events for CS2, OW2, CoD, LoL, RL, Halo, AoE4, TF2, SSBU, Melee, Brawl, RoA2, and another week of camps. We're actually working on LAN's for more titles than there are in the Esports World Cup (not nearly at the same level, but players need to start somewhere to get there)! Speaking of the EWC, loved the T1 win, good to see them round into form. The dominance of Falcons in Warzone was also impressive. Looking forward to the next few weeks of competition. GL HF for a great July

3 major takeaways from attending, observing, and talking with elites at DreamHack this weekend. These 3 topics came up multiple times in my different conversations with elite esports professionals & educators. 1. Who you have working under you is incredibly important. 2. There is a MASSIVE ability to bring a lot of money into the space by connecting culturally relevant professionals with government/education professionals who are unaware of the benefits of scholastic gaming, or don't know how to pull it off. ( Similar to first. ) 3. Patient happy positive culture is incredibly powerful. ( Shoutouts GStew. )

🌍 Award Winning Social Entrepreneur & Community Leader 👩🏽💻Building an Inclusive Digital Economy 🇿🇦Promoting Township Growth ➡️Making Success Tangible
Redefining “Pens Down” eKasi 🧡 This week, the majority of learners in my community received their reports, marking the official closure of schools. It's now "Pens Down" season eKasi – a time when young people often engage in (illegal) alcohol consumption and partying to celebrate this milestone or perhaps to "drown their sorrows." In a society plagued with social ills like alcoholism and drug addiction, where "fun" is predominantly associated with partying, it's crucial to reflect on annual events like these "pens down" celebrations that have become a norm in our society. Why are these events characterized by underage drinking and partying? Why do we observe more of this in township communities? Is this a result of our background, upbringing, or influences? Are people in these communities not exposed enough to other forms of entertainment? I have many questions and even more potential answers to these issues. One thing is certain: change doesn’t come from conversation alone; we need to take action. This year, I am proud to host some of our learners from the after-school club for an exciting games day. I'm not claiming this is the ultimate solution, but I'm happy to know that we will be giving a few learners a different perspective on what a "pens down" celebration looks like and exposing them (especially those who haven’t participated in something like this) to a broader view of what can be considered as fun, outside of what has been popularized. #impact #growthmindset #millennialmindsetfoundation #purposedrivenleadership #purposedriven #socialentrepreneur #socialenterprise

This is me in 2012 trying to go pro in CS:GO. No one was running live events, so I started running them. I also played in them. 3 teams turned up to my first event. We won it and took home $300 between the 5 of us. Two of our players drove over 10 hours to be there, which means we mostly lost money winning this event. CS:GO was a really bad game and not supported at all on the global scene at this time, the largest competitions were giving $30K prize pools. It didn't work out for me as a pro, but I learned a ton in business. What I'm trying to say is, if you see a gap - go and fill it! I needed live event experience, no one was running live events, so I ran some. Everybody clapped, the CEO was the dog and gave me a million dollars. (That last line might not be true) #esports #gaming #digitalmarketing
