The fourth and final electricity transformer for our East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm has now arrived safely at the onshore convertor site in Bramford, Suffolk. The transformers were built by Siemens Energy in Germany and have been transported to site from the Port of Ipswich over the past four weekends. Each unit weighs over 300 tonnes – the equivalent of more than 60 African elephants 🐘 Thanks to our partners Keltbray, Allelys and Associated British Ports and to National Highways, local roads authorities and the police for their support and efforts over the past month. Most of all, a huge thanks to local communities and businesses for their patience and understanding during the traffic management and moving operations 💚 The equipment will play a key role in ensuring the clean, green electricity produced by East Anglia THREE’s 95 offshore turbines can feed into the national grid – enough to power the equivalent of over 1.3 million homes 🏡

So pleased that Associated British Ports has been able to play a vital role in the supply chain for these four transformers weighing 4 tonnes each. By being the closest port to Bramford at 7.5 miles and with direct access to the A14 arterial route, ABP was able to receive these four heavy lift pieces, ex ship, store them at the quayside and then deliver them over four weekends working with the police, logistics partners and all concerned to make this happen successfully. Great to be supporting SPR via ABP Ipswich given their long term Offshore Wind O&M partnership at ABP Port of Lowestoft #ABPEnablingTheEnergyTransition #KeepingBritainTrading #EastWind 👍

Great to see and thanks for the good co-operation of all parties involved!

Great to see that our transformers have arrived safely at the onshore convertor site in Bramford, Suffolk. Collaboration is the key to success. Together, we're driving the energy transition forward. 👍

Given our long-standing worldwide collaboration with Siemens Energy in relation to grouting of generator units using PAGEL Spezial-Beton GmbH & Co. KG materials is there an opportunity either on this EA Three site and/or elsewhere to be involved in upcoming projects? If so please can someone within the SPR/Siemens Supply Chain reach out as we would love the chance to be a part of future works? Thank you and keep up the awesome work!

Great to see this coming to fruition! Hard to believe it’s been 8 years since myself and the Suffolk CC team gave evidence to the Planning Inspectorate on the benefits of this scheme!
