Today, Long Island takes a 924-megawatt step toward inflation proof power with the award of Sunrise Wind. Together with Ørsted and Eversource Energy, Haugland Group LLC will provide opportunities to thousands of Long Islanders to rethink career paths closer to home. Whether joining the construction workforce through union apprenticeship, or college track professionals looking for careers in energy and infrastructure. Haugland Group will build the onshore component, transporting and distributing the power generated from the offshore wind turbines converting wind into energy.  Powered with local union workforce, while building on-ramps and removing barriers to careers with good wages and benefits.   Sunrise Wind will have a halo effect on local job creation and business opportunities for community and economic development more broadly across Long Island, the Hudson Valley, and the New York metropolitan area.  Haugland Group could not be prouder to be part of this clean energy and grid modernization movement. #ourwordisourway #workforcedevelopment #hauglandgroup

The UK's offshore wind industry is experiencing a remarkable growth trajectory, with the potential to triple its workforce to over 100,000 by 2030. However, challenges such as skilled labor shortages and the need for robust infrastructure must be addressed to fully capitalize on this growth. The North Sea energy workforce offers an unrivalled pool of skilled oil and gas specialists that must be retained to power the transition to clean energy. ✅ A successful homegrown energy transition using existing skills could see the UK energy workforce swell by 50% with new jobs bringing the total number employed in the sector to 225,000 by 2030. ✅ More than 90% of all those currently working in oil and gas production and its associated supply chain have skills that are potentially transferable to wind, carbon capture, usage and storage and clean hydrogen energy production. ✅ It is vital that the transition from dependence on oil and gas is effectively managed to ensure the existing skills of these workers are taken into account so they can move smoothly into new roles. ✅ It is essential that education systems are adapted to future workforce requirements and offers similar status to students pursuing technical instead of academic pathways, with better long-term funding for apprenticeships at all levels. The skills in the oil and gas industry, through the entire supply chain, are highly valuable and transferable. The future of the energy industry will rely on the wealth of knowledge and skills of those already working in it today, and cross sector collaboration and collective planning will be key to achieving the new government’s goals in the UK energy sector.
