#EarthDay2024 – Reducing plastic waste and usage, isn’t something that will happen overnight. That won’t work. It’s about making small changes over a long period of time. For example: 🥤 Remove one single use plastic from your weekly shopping every week 🥤 Recycle those plastics you must use 🥤 Don’t throw (any) trash on the ground, carry it with you until you find a bin. Little things, that If everyone did would make a huge difference. The Green Task Force and PATT Foundation have done litter picks, site clears and general tidying, and you’d be shocked (horrified) at the amount of single use plastic we’ve found (even in remote Welsh valleys). We only have one earth, so let’s look after it.

International Plastic Bag Free Day is observed every year on July 3 with the sole motive of spreading awareness about plastic pollution and the importance of recycling and composting plastic waste. Today, International Plastic Bag Free Day is marked by nearly 1,500 organizations as part of the Break Free from Plastic Movement. One of the main activities of the movement is to encourage people to stop using and not to ask for plastic bags when they shop. Other activities include reducing, reusing, and recycling plastic waste. We can support the movement by taking simple steps such as reducing our plastic footprint, recycling, and composting plastic waste. We can also encourage our friends and family to do the same. We can't recycle our way out of this. We buy 1 million PET bottles / minute. That's 525 billion bottles each year, globally. 99% is made from oil. Only 28% is recycled. The rest is burned, landfilled, or littered. If we don't act, by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean. We know what to do: REFUSE -> REDUCE -> REUSE -> RECYCLE We've got the whole world in our hands.
