Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies’ Post

The most significant gun violence prevention law in decades, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (#BSCA), was signed into law two years ago. 📜 This landmark legislation has helped to make our communities safer, even as more work remains. Thanks to BSCA's investment of $250 million over five years and ongoing funding to support Community Violence Intervention (#CVI) programs, the White House has supported nearly 80 CVI initiatives across the country. These programs are crucial to disrupting systemic inequities in our policing system, reducing harm and fostering safer communities. We are grateful for the current administration’s commitment to supporting CVI and to the organizations part of our grantee, the Coalition to Advance Public Safety, for leading this work: Cities United, Community Based Public Safety Collective, The Health Alliance for Violence Intervention and The National Institute for Criminal Justice Reform (NICJR).
