Wow, 1 million man-hours without a lost-time injury is a huge deal!
This shows how much everyone at Sargent cares about safety. Keep up the great work, team!
We met up with a crew today that already thought through and pre-planned their work. We noticed their #barricaded off work area with 100% tie off signs and asked, “what is the exposure if your railing is still up?” They told us that, “they were prepping for the work they will be doing on Monday with taking down the railing.” Its rare to run into crews that thought through and did extensive pre-planning before activities like the one they will be performing. We told the entire crew that we thought it was incredible that they took the time to prepare their work area, as opposed to rushing the day of the work activity to set up and miss a step. This is all part of what we call, “scheduled safety.” Scheduled safety is essentially sitting down with superintendents and/or #foremen to look at the schedule, note all activities, #preplan#safety such as where will you set up your #fallprotection#controlledaccesszones etc. For information on #safetyconsulting for your company or #jobsite contact us on our website: www.1stamericansafety.com#construction#constructionsite#butterflyanchor#caz#oshaviolation#oshaisthisok#safetyconsultant#roofing

Have you ever seen one of these guys walking past a construction site?
Safety Construction Worker signs are used to bring clear attention to hazards within a construction site such as overhead powerlines, workers travel paths or sensitive site equipment.
For us, they are a simple way that we prioritise Safety at all times to make sure we send our team home the same way they came to work.

👷♂️ Importance of Lifting Plans in Safety 👷♀️🚧
What went wrong here? A bustling construction site in the heart of the city. The air is filled with the hum of machinery and the shouts of workers. Amidst the hustle and bustle, a small oversight occurs—a crane lifts a heavy load without a proper plan in place. Suddenly, disaster strikes as the load shifts unexpectedly, endangering the lives of workers below.
🛑 The Problem: This scenario highlights the critical importance of lifting plans in ensuring safety on construction sites. Without a comprehensive plan in place, the risks of accidents and injuries skyrocket, putting both workers and bystanders in harm's way.
💡 5 Tips To Overcome the Problem:
Plan, Plan, Plan: Before any lifting operation begins, take the time to develop a detailed lifting plan that considers factors such as load weight, environmental conditions, and equipment specifications.
Communication is Key: Ensure clear communication among all team members involved in the lifting operation. Everyone should be aware of their roles and responsibilities to prevent misunderstandings.
Inspect and Maintain Equipment: Regularly inspect lifting equipment to ensure it is in good working condition. Proper maintenance can prevent equipment failures that could lead to accidents.
Provide Training: Equip your team with the knowledge and skills they need to safely execute lifting operations. Training sessions on lifting plan awareness and risk assessment are essential for every worker involved.
Learn from Incidents: When accidents do occur, take the opportunity to learn from them. Conduct thorough incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent similar incidents in the future.
📊 Did You Know? According to recent statistics, up to 80% of lifting-related accidents can be attributed to inadequate planning and communication.
🤔 Now, I'd love to hear from you: Have you encountered any challenges with lifting plan awareness in your workplace? How do you ensure safety during lifting operations? Share your thoughts in the comments below! Let's work together to keep our worksites safe for everyone. #SafetyFirst#LiftingPlans#WorkplaceSafety 🏗️👷♂️👷♀️ #crane#workplacesafety#liftingoperations#riggers#slingers#liftingengineers ⚠

🚧 Ensuring Safety in Load Lifting Zones 🚧
In construction and industrial environments, safety is paramount. One crucial aspect is properly managing Barricade Load Lifting Zones to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of workers on site.
🔑 Key Steps:
1. Clear Markings: Properly designate and mark lifting zones with clear barriers to alert workers.
2. Training: Ensure all personnel are trained in load lifting protocols and the risks involved.
3. Inspection: Regularly inspect barricades to ensure they remain intact and functional.
4. Communication: Maintain open communication to ensure everyone is aware of the lifting zones and times.
A little extra attention to detail goes a long way in protecting your team and improving site efficiency.

A 38-year-old construction worker tragically lost his life in Melbourne after being struck by falling building materials during lifting operations. The incident occurred while the team was handling overhead loads, and despite the crew's efforts, the worker succumbed to critical injuries at the scene. This incident highlights ongoing risks in the construction sector, especially regarding high-risk tasks like lifting and material handling. WorkSafe Victoria has launched an investigation to determine if proper safety protocols, including exclusion zones and secure lifting techniques, were in place. The case underscores the importance of safety standards to prevent similar tragedies. #WorkplaceSafety#ConstructionSafety#WorkSafeVictoria#SafetyFirst#safetyconsultantsadelaide
Ensuring Safety at Heights in the Construction Industry: A Collective Responsibility
Working at heights remains one of the most hazardous activities in the construction industry.
Why Safety at Heights is Crucial:
- Preventing Accidents: Falls from heights are a leading cause of serious injuries and fatalities.
- Compliance: Adhering to safety regulations helps protect both workers and the company from legal repercussions.
- Promoting a Safety Culture: Prioritising safety demonstrates a commitment to the well-being of employees and fosters a culture of care and responsibility.
- Operational Continuity: Safe practices reduce the risk of delays and interruptions due to accidents.
Key Safety Strategies:
1. Comprehensive Training: Ensure all workers receive thorough training on the use of safety equipment and the risks associated with working at heights.
2. Proper Equipment: Use the right personal protective equipment (PPE) such as harnesses, helmets, and guardrails.
3. Regular Inspections: Conduct frequent inspections of scaffolding, ladders, and other equipment to ensure they are in good condition.
4. Clear Communication: Establish clear protocols and communication channels for reporting hazards and incidents.
5. Risk Assessment: Perform detailed risk assessments before beginning any task at height and implement control measures to mitigate risks.
6. Emergency Preparedness: Have a robust emergency response plan in place, including rescue procedures for workers who may fall or become trapped.
By prioritising safety at heights, we protect our most valuable asset – our people. Let's build a future where every worker returns home safely at the end of the day. Together, we can elevate our standards and safeguard our industry.

We don’t want anyone to get hurt. Safety is not just for compliance or because OSHA says to do it. Safety makes sense. Most importantly, it saves lives. But, it also saves money on insurance premiums and reduces downtime. We know human and behavioral factors play significant roles in contributing to accidents in various industries, including construction. Understanding these factors is crucial for developing effective safety strategies and preventing accidents.
This year Construction Safety Week's theme is valuing every voice. We encourage you to take time this week to learn about how human and behavioral factors can contribute to accidents, and how valuing every voice can save lives: https://lnkd.in/gttBXMhf#ConstructionSafetyWeek#ConstructionSafety#Construction#Hilmerson
