#NationalCrimeVictimsRightsWeek2024 Every individual has the ability to contribute to the support of crime survivors in Williams County. Should a survivor choose to share their experience with you, remember that it’s often challenging to disclose such personal and intimate details. You don’t need to have all the answers, but offering a supportive and encouraging response can profoundly aid the survivor’s journey toward healing. The first step is to aid survivors in assessing their personal safety. This might involve reaching out to emergency services if needed. It’s essential to empower survivors to establish their own safety plan and recognize that they are the experts in their own circumstances. Pressuring them to report or seek additional emergency services against their wishes could result in unintended harm. If the survivor wishes to report the incident or seek medical attention from emergency services, ensure you have those contacts readily available. Encourage them by emphasizing that they can have a dedicated advocate with them at every stage. #NCVRW2024 #YouAreNotAlone #SarahsFriendsSupport #HopeAndHealing #CrimePrevention #CommunityStrength

🛑May is National Stop The Bleed Month🛑 The Stop The Bleed campaign helps raise awareness for vital life-saving techniques to control bleeding in emergency situations such as workplace accidents or shootings. Having the skills to offer aid empowers bystanders to act swiftly and effectively in critical moments, potentially saving lives. 🩸 Approximately 40% of trauma-related deaths worldwide are due to bleeding or its consequences, making bleeding the most common cause of preventable death in trauma. 🩸 Bleeding can quickly become life-threatening. The average time to bleed out is only 2 to 5 minutes. 🩸 The average first responder arrival time is 7 to 10 minutes. Visit https://bit.ly/3WkbQc8 to learn more about bleeding control kits or contact us to learn how you can be prepared. #StopTheBleed #BleedingControl #PublicSafety #Rescue #FirstAid #EmergencyResponse

Healthcare Security Consultant | Author | I help healthcare organizations prevent and mitigate violence
Is your community care site ready for victims of violence? But Dave! Our community care sites don't offer emergency care! It doesn't matter. If a victim of violence (gunshot wound, stab wound, etc) is seeking help and your site is nearby, you might be their first stop. I've had clients with community care sites in high crime areas describe this exact scenario unfolding. This is thankfully not common, but sites should be prepared- especially in high-crime/gun violence areas. What can you do to prepare? ✅ Ensure your code cart/bag has bleeding control supplies and clinical staff are trained on them. ✅ Educate staff on the potential threats posed by VoV's. ✅ Enable site staff to lock down the location quickly using a single button. ✅ Conduct scenario-based micro-learning drills to practice response. PS- What would you add to this list? #healthcare #workplaceviolence #healthcaresecurity #communitycare #ambulatorycare #urgentcare #healthcareleaders

🚨It's essential to use 9-1-1 ONLY in HUMAN life-threatening emergencies, yet some people reach out for the wrong reasons. Here are some reasons NOT to call or text 9-1-1 and who you should contact instead: 🐶If you have a pet emergency, call or visit your local vet emergency clinic for immediate medical attention for your pet. 💡If you have a power outage, and want to track the outage, go to the Center Point Outage Tracker ( https://hubs.la/Q02m6Y3L0). 💦If you need to report a broken fire hydrant, call city or county services (3-1-1 if available in your area). 🏠If you need housing assistance, call social services at 2-1-1. 🔊If you have a noise complaint, contact your local jurisdiction's non-emergency number. 🚓Houston Police - 713-884-3131 🚒Houston Fire - 713-884-3143 ⚕️Houston Ambulance - 713-884-3144 👮Harris County Sheriff's Office - 713-221-6000 👮Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office - 281-341-4665 🔵If you or someone you know is having a mental health crisis, call or text The Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 9-8-8. 📲Call or text 9-1-1 ONLY when you have a HUMAN life-threatening emergency requiring police, fire, or medical responders. According to the World Health Organization 👵 👴 This year's World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), with the theme "Spotlight on Older Persons in Emergencies," emphasizes the urgent need to protect and support older individuals during crises. It calls on governments, international donors, organizations, and communities to prioritize the safety and well-being of older persons in their emergency preparedness and response strategies. It encourages the development of inclusive policies that ensure older persons are not overlooked during crises. 🧓 👴 WEAAD 2024 also highlights the importance of education and training for emergency responders, caregivers, and the public. By raising awareness about the specific challenges faced by older persons in emergencies, we can foster a more inclusive and protective environment. #QualityofLifeHomeCarellc #HomeCare #getpaidtotakecareofloveones #philadelphiahomecare #WorldElderAbuseAwarenessDay #WEAAD #EndElderAbuse #StopElderAbuse #ProtectOurElders #ElderAbuseAwareness
