If you're reading this, you have access via the internet, to more information than human beings could even have dreamed possible less than a generation ago. Whilst this has made so many things possible, a whole lot of problems have also been created; an epidemic of concentration related issues, information overload, and the proliferation of fake news, to name just a few. The one I've personally spent a good amount of time focusing on, is how I manage information overload. I started exploring this issue pretty early in my time of working online because I was aware: 1. that I needed to show up online in order to be visible, 2. that social media could send me down a whole bunch of rabbit holes which didn't help my business and left me feeling wildly unfocused. I knew I had to manage the information coming into my world in a healthier way. So I started experimenting with inner and outer tactics and discovered that most of the overwhelm I was feeling was caused by unhealthy emotional attachments which I was able to clear it out. That has made all the difference to the way I engage with information sources and how I feel about them. I've shifted from feeling buffeted by social media, for example, to feeling completely in control of how I how and when I show up.
