Huge thank you to Stephen & Tom at biggerhouse Film for inviting me to participate in their group event yesterday at the Watershed I met so many wonderful people - shout out to Jessie, Jess, Beth, Michael, Chris, Christian, Taran & to catching up with Clare 💫 biggerhouse are passionate about neurodivergent filmmakers. A key take away from today was that we can make film in different ways & structures and not have to fit into a mould. Thinking outside of the box is encouraged here. So much resonated with me when speaking with the other filmmakers. Authenticity is everything. Our work may not fit into what people are ‘expecting’ neurodivergent/disabled filmmakers to make and herein lies the problem. Expectations and assumptions about what we should be making and how we make films… We’re not just tick boxes and thinking outside of the box is a strength. Let’s go make films, smash stereotypes & expectations and bring our own authenticity to the screen.
