#PrideMonth recognizes the advances that individuals have made to openly celebrate their identities, communities, and the families they have built. “Equality means more than passing laws. The struggle is really won in the hearts and minds of the community, where it really counts." – Barbara Gittings Everyone deserves to experience love fully, equally, without shame, and without compromise. – San Manuel Tribal Council #PrideMonth #SMBMI #NativePride

The Supreme Court’s decision on Affirmative Action can’t go unanswered by me. It’s about access and righting historical wrongs and harm. If you don’t know how many centuries of historical harm then you need to find out, but warning, it takes more than reading a couple of books. It takes intentional commitment and study. So many conversations about this.... continue reading here: https://buff.ly/3NQVEck (🔗 in bio) #conflictresolution #theconflictcloser #onthematterofrace #lynnemaureenhurdle #otmr #endracism #antiracism #racialequality #racialdivide #blm #blacklivesmatter #georgefloyd #racism #nojusticenopeace #equality #justice

⚫️🌒🌓 🌟 Justice: More Than Equality 🤝 Today, justice may mean different things to different people, but there is a common thread: Justice embodies living honorably, not harming others, and ensuring everyone receives their due. The definition of justice by a Roman jurist still holds true: Justice means giving others their due. However, it's not just about equality; it's also about a personalized approach based on needs and circumstances. Religions and philosophers have emphasized the importance of justice. However, justice often seems like an elusive goal. Why is that? Powerful and authoritative figures can manipulate the definition of justice in their favor. Therefore, as societies continue to seek justice, we must strive to find true justice for everyone. Remember, justice is not just about equality; it also considers individual needs. We must work together to build a fair world for all. 🌍💪 #Justice #Equality #SocialValues #Collaboration #RealJustice

Powerful words from James Baldwin. Disagreement is a natural part of life, but when it denies someone's humanity and right to exist, it's not just a difference of opinion – it's oppression. Let's stand together for equality and justice. 🌟 #ElevatingEquity #Antiracism #MyRacialStory #BeBrave #EducationalEquity #RacialEquality #RacialEquity #DiversityandEquity #SocialJustice #EqualOpportunity #EducationalEquality

Anti-Racism Educator and Consultant | Systems Thinking for Social Change | Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion | Founder of Newkind Social Justice Conference
The reason racism still has such a strangle hold on society and is so engrained in our lives is because of the intentional machinations of the very peak bodies, institutions and organisations who are supposed to be leading the change. Not because of the overt racists we have been told to blame. Some may think that this is a big pill to swallow for a Monday morning, but I've never had much of a desire to appease people who abuse their power and influence to create personal security for their careers while holding back the cause of justice for the masses. And now, the current state of the world means I have even less patience with those organisations who are acting as the frontline defence of white supremacy in Australian society. The very NGOs, Institutions and self-proclaimed "Peak Bodies" who we are expected to turn to for support, advocacy and leadership of thought, are the very same ones who have caused to most harm to me and every other person I know who seeks to create real change in the arena of Racial Equity and Justice. Those advocating for "Diversity" but caring more for how HR managers will feel about our use of the direct language of anti-racism; the human rights institutions who we are supposed to turn to for justice still marginalising and excluding any person or any thought that challenges their white supremacy and saviourism; the NGOs who care more for what the politicians of the day think of them, than what people of "colour" think of their projects, their language and their frameworks; The people who use the language of "self-efficacy" when discussing settlement, or so-called inclusion which is nothing more than a euphemism for assimilation, or the lame discourses such as belonging, or racial tolerance, are of the very same heritage that decided to use "Harmony" Day, instead of the actual name of the day, International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This is a little of what I will be speaking to in my keynote at the Racial Justice Conference organised by the Racial Justice Centre. White Supremacy in the faux progressive spaces of Australian society that act as the very gears and mechanisms of maintaining Systemic Racism while pretending to address it; your time is up. Time to take a stand and be surrounded by the people who are brave enough to call out the hypocrisy of these organisations and sectors that have harmed us the most. Time to stand up for Justice! I am so grateful to Sarah Ibrahim for your selfless dedication and for going above and beyond to make this event happen despite the disappointments and the challenges. See you all there!
