San Diego Children's Discovery Museum’s Post

We're thrilled to hear from families who love visiting the Museum! We’re proud to offer diverse daily programming and discounts for military, WIC, and EBT members, ensuring that every child can experience the joy of learning through play.

A new water table is underway thanks to the generous support of the Escondido Community Foundation! This grant will allow us to give our current Water Ways exhibit a much-needed refresh while introducing families and little ones to the water cycle.

We had a great time meeting with the Voices for Children, Inc. team to explore new ways to support children in foster care and provide access to early childhood education resources! Thank you to Suzy Garcia, Olivia Chavez, Nicole Koch (she/her), Yana Aldridge, and Shanda Arredondo for the visit!

We are excited to participate in this year's Kids Free October! Throughout the month of October, kids ages 12 and under receive free admission to over 50 museums around San Diego County including our Museum. Kids Free October is a great program that allows access to hands-on programming that economically disadvantaged families may not get to explore normally for free! Thank you to Fallbrook Regional Health District for granting us the opportunity to bring our Mobile Children’s Museum to over 800 Preschool, Transitional Kindergarten, and Kindergarten students in Fallbrook Union School District this fall! One TK teacher at Live Oak Elementary shared her excitement, saying, “My students absolutely loved all of the different activities! As a teacher, it was great to see them learning how to communicate with one another, problem solve, and practice fine and gross motor activities while also having a lot of fun in the process!” It is thanks to partnerships like these that we can provide amazing hands-on opportunities for students and teachers.

Last week we got a behind-the-scenes tour of KPBS studios and had the opportunity to discuss our ongoing partnership into 2025! We can't wait to bring more PBS characters to life next year! Thank you to Deanna Mackey, Jenelle Dean-Fuller, and Trisha Richter for their hospitality during our visit.

Marie and her family had a blast at the Museum, enjoying hands-on activities that kept her children entertained from start to finish! We love to see the impact our enriching experiences have on families.

What a dazzling night! Our Ignite Their Spark event, on September 7, shimmered with the support of over 150 guests, all uniting to help light the way for children and families at the San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum. Together, we raised essential funds to support the hands-on exhibits and educational programs that make a difference across San Diego County.
