Regrettably, hate speech, a venomous force that undermines the cohesion of society, has taken root in Cameroon, jeopardizing the peace and unity that the nation endeavors to maintain amidst its diversity. The hate speech phenomenon ignites tensions and rifts between people and communities, escalating ongoing conflicts and impeding efforts towards fostering solidarity and advancement. #NewSETA, with initiatives such as #REPAIR, has tackled this issue head-on, urging young people to refrain from perpetuating this harmful behavior, particularly on social media platforms. Additionally, in September 2020, NewSETA gathered 100 youth leaders representing all 10 regions of Cameroon for a cultural event known as #CUBLEF. This event exemplified harmonious coexistence, showcasing our collective unity amidst diversity. Also, NewSETA has provided training to #journalists on reporting practices that avoid fueling #misinformation, #disinformation, or #hate speech.
