After the courageous care that first responders provided to patients during a time of crisis last March, Shauna and Deputy Randy Krantz knew they wanted to find a way to show their support. Yesterday, they hand-delivered sweet treats of appreciation to our Emergency Department colleagues in honor of their daily work caring for first responders and families across the Treasure Valley. “We are forever grateful for the highly trained doctors, nurses and staff at Saint Alphonsus that care for our first responders, in what could be the most frightening time of their life, as well as their families," Shauna Krantz shared. “We wanted to recognize the hardworking staff and say thank you for treating our blue family like your own, with the best care possible. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. Keep up the amazing work.” Thank you to Shauna from Holland's Bites and Brews, Sea State Coffee, GASTONS BAKERY, and The Chef’s Store Meridian for their generous donations to support our team! And a huge thank you to the tireless work of our emergency responders! #ourcallingisyou #trauma #emergencyresponders #firstresponse

Vial of Life program Presentation at the Rotary Club of Sapulpa, OK. Presented by Lindsey L. Williams, President, Rotary Club of Owasso, OK. The Rotary Club of Owasso, in partnership with the Owasso Fire Department, launched the Vial of Life program on February 1, 2024, for home-bound seniors, housebound disabled veterans, and residents who may need emergency care. The Vial of Life program is nationally recognized as saving countless lives each year by providing emergency responders with life-saving medical information during an emergency. We aim to provide the Vial of Life kits free of charge to Owasso and the surrounding community. The Owasso Rotary Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit If your senior parent, housebound disabled veteran, or another family member had a medical emergency and were alone, they might be unconscious or confused. If so, who would provide the crucial medical information that EMS personnel need in an emergency? Even if awake and aware, people don't always remember details in a crisis. This is when the free Vial of Life kits can save a life! Our goal is to help medical personnel make the best decisions regarding emergency treatment for Owasso, OK, and surrounding areas by providing a Vial of Life Kit for the residents who need it. "The Vial of Life Kit is designed to speak for the residents when they can't speak for themselves." Vial of Life Program: https://lnkd.in/gXMqbYwR

Lets grow this conversation!
“The most powerful thing a family ever said to me was ‘I wouldn’t change my child for anything, never refer to my child as a burden, it’s the system that’s a burden.’ And if we can get that right, in hospital, in the community, in social care and in children’s hospices, then it will make such a difference to these children and families.” This morning, our Chief Executive Andy was on the BBC Breakfast sofa to talk about the increasing pressure on children’s hospices like Julia's House Children's Hospices and other children’s palliative care services to continue to provide their lifeline care. We can get it right. We have clear actions that the Government and NHS England can take to fix the underfunding, staff shortages and lack of accountability which prevent children and families from getting the care they need. Make our calls stronger by adding your voice to our open letter to the Prime Minister: https://lnkd.in/eVA65zce

Efficient communication in the Not-for-Profit sector is critical. When you consider Not-for-Profits often need to: 👉 Coordinate volunteers 👉 Provide urgent support 👉 Notify people in emergencies Then it's easy to see why clear and timely communication is so important… Just recently, we partnered with a medical response organisation that was struggling to communicate efficiently with its network of 500 regional volunteers. That's until we stepped in 💪 Thanks to Whispir's platform they’re now able to send important communications in real-time, and they’re saving on their SMS costs too! This is 100% on point. Elected officials have no true understanding of the costs of the service they get versus what they are paying into it. They simply want an ambulance to appear when their residents call 911. A necessary goal obviously but not one that comes without a price tag. I for one believe in most sections of the nation a hybrid response model is the model that needs to be enacted. Volunteer and career staff working together. Both are professionals, one does it in their spare time and one does it for a living. It can work and we are seeing it work in different sections of the nation. Without a hybrid model, the tax payers have to be prepared for quite a large tax hike as the cost to provide service is not anywhere near the amount that the tax payer is currently paying.
This is what happens when officials don't understand that it costs close to a million dollars a year to operate those two ambulances 24/7. Even if it were great reimbursement in the area, 3000 calls a year wouldn't cover the cost of operation. EMS isn't free, it never has been but for years volunteer agencies in NYS have provided the service for what "seemed" to be free because they operated on minimal donations with free labor, so they didn't bill patients. Those days are over and it's time for legislators, mayors, supervisors, etc. to come to the realization that they need to subsidize EMS due to low reimbursement rates paid to EMS providers.

One of the great scandals of our time is the routine placement of children in care in homes many miles away from their close connections. The reasons for this are complex but one of them is the shortage of providers willing to reserve their places for local children (‘local’ meaning within an easy travel distance of their original home). This shortage is fuelled in part by the commercial pressures created by investor-owners to keep homes fully occupied, regardless of where in the country those children are sent from. Many areas, therefore, end up with quite a few homes occupied by children from outside the area while the local council will be forced to place their own children further afield, should a local placement not be available. Yes, it’s a form of madness, but one that is the norm in most of England. Is there a solution? Yes there is and one of them is to create more providers like We Are Juno CIC (of which I am honoured to be Chair) who explicitly commit our places to children from Liverpool City Region. This, of course, means a smaller ‘pool’ of children for our homes (which is operationally more challenging) but it does mean that a child from the Liverpool City Region area will not be sent out of area when they don’t need to be. The piece below from C4 News is a superb investment of time for anyone trying to understand the nature of the problems in the children’s social care system and what possible solutions look like. In short, what are needed are homes EVERYWHERE that prioritise local children and don’t rely on an economic model that drives the provider to take children from further afield. My own view is that chains of homes run on impact-first lines are needed, ideally where there are clear incentives to provide exclusively for local children. This is easier said than done. At We Are Juno CIC and other fantastic providers like Social adVentures and Navigo we are trying to demonstrate the art of the possible. We also need social investors to step up to the plate on this and make the capital available to create more of these places. Local homes for local children. It can’t be that difficult, can it? #childrenssocialcare #c4 #dfe #ceo #leader #guardian #safeguarding #become
I spoke to Channel 4 News about our new report showing more children in care being moved away from their local area with huge impact on their lives and wellbeing. The care system is in crisis and children are paying the price. This needs to change. https://lnkd.in/eF46geZ2
Care system for children ‘has to change’, says charity

Well done to all.
Today, we had the privilege of hosting a dual presentation with Annalee Community First Responders. Darragh from Annalee First Responders presented certificates of achievement to several Kyte Powertech colleagues who completed their CPR training. Additionally, we were pleased to donate CPR training manikins to Annalee, supporting their essential work in training the community to save lives. The Annalee Community First Responders are a vital part of our community, responding to medical emergencies such as cardiac arrests, chest pains, and strokes. Their quick response often makes a life-saving difference, arriving before the ambulance in many cases. 📍 They serve the areas of Redhills, Ballyhaise, Belturbet, Butlersbridge, Laragh, Scotshouse, and Cavan Town. We are driven by community spirit and encourage more volunteers and donors to support Annalee Community First Responders in their life-saving mission. Will you step up? 📞 To get involved, contact 0894363816 Annalee CFR @annalee_cfr #KytePowertech #AnnaleeFirstResponders #CPRTraining #CommunitySupport #LifeSavingSkills

National Day of Giving (November 29, 2022) encourages giving back. Assisting Hands Homecare gives back to the community. We’ve just spent the weekend shopping and searching for the best possible deals. National Day Of Giving reminds us to give to those in need. Whether we look to our favorite causes or charities, it is a great reminder to lift others up during a generous time of year. On the Tuesday after Thanksgiving charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. Try these ways to give: Set up a collection for non-perishable food at work. Deliver the collection to a local food pantry. Donate gift cards to a shelter. Collect new toys and donate them to children spending the holidays in the hospital. Make blankets for those receiving cancer treatment. https://lnkd.in/eUTYtHCV
