In honor of #NationalTattooDay, here's what you need to know about tattoos + blood donation. 1) There's no waiting period in most states, including Virginia, if you got a tattoo in a state-reg facility with fresh ink & needles. 2) There are a handful of states that don't regulate tattoo facilities. In these states, there's a 3-month waiting period to donate blood: District of Columbia, Georgia, Idaho, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Utah & Wyoming. 3) Questions about your eligibility to donate blood? Our eligibility specialists are available to help at 1-866-236-3276. Or you can find answers to common eligibility questions at rcblood.org/eligibility.

9 Gallons! Seriously? That's crazy. One of the things Ramsey Solutions does every year is put together a company-wide blood drive for the Red Cross. I give regularly through a local Red Cross office on my way home. But, I will usually try to time donations so I can participate with the company. I just got a note from the Red Cross that my recent donation pushed me to the 9 gallon mark of donations. Wow! To put that in context: The normal human body has anywhere from 1.2-1.5 gallons of blood. I've effectively emptied myself 7 times. Ha! Giving blood is life-saving for others. It's also good for your body. It helps generate the production of new, fresh blood cells. I always say I give for the snacks. However, since I've had to go gluten-free the past couple of years, the snack choices are a bit limited. In reality, I give because I want to help others. That, and the fact that I'm O- and CMV- which means I'm in high demand with great blood to give to babies in need.

Did you know hundreds of thousands of American children are sex trafficked annually, with only 1% of the victims identified? Safe House Project has the audacious belief that eradication of child trafficking is possible through the power of unity, compassion, and collective action. Their mission is to increase survivor identification beyond one percent through education, provide emergency services and placement to all survivors, and ensure every survivor can access quality, safe housing and holistic care. Safe House Project recognizes the crucial role that in-home service providers can play and offers free, industry-focused training to empower these professionals to be vigilant and proactive in spotting signs of human trafficking. Pest management professionals, who often access various homes and properties, are trained to identify suspicious situations and know the proper steps to report them. This training transforms everyday service providers into the eyes and ears of our communities, significantly enhancing the efforts to identify and rescue trafficking survivors.
