As we close Military Appreciation Month, Safal Partners wants to honor the invaluable contributions, sacrifices, and service of former and active members of the armed forces. Safal is actively supporting veterans through three key initiatives. Through the leadership of the DOL VETS National Veterans’ Technical Assistance Center, we provide programmatic support and technical assistance to Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program (HVRP) grant recipients, which are locally based organizations serving homeless veterans in communities across the U.S. Through our work on the DOL VETS Performance, Policy, and Analysis Support project, we undertake performance data evaluation to aid national, state, and local veteran offices. As a DOL Office of Apprenticeship Registered #Apprenticeship Cybersecurity and Tech Industry Intermediary, we are accelerating transitioning service members and their spouses' entry into high-demand cyber and IT roles. We are proud to be a U.S. Department of Labor VETS Employment Navigator and Partnership Program participant, providing TAPS Employer Navigators at 37 American military bases worldwide with real-time access to Registered Apprenticeship information, resources, and employment opportunities for soon-to-be veterans, and to link arms with partners in the field who are serving veterans and military spouses through Registered Apprenticeship, including organizations like Camden Dream Center Technology Training School, CyberWyoming, Interapt, KARMAI Consulting LLC, and Lake Region State College. This month, and always, we extend our gratitude to those who serve and have served our nation https://lnkd.in/gwYvF7NE

Wow. 🙁 Please share if you can, so we can figure out how best to support our retiring Army personnel and help them enter the civilian workforce in the smoothest way possible. Thank you 🧡 "In a surprising and contentious move, some #Army commands are now denying #retirement-eligible soldiers the opportunity to participate in critical career transition programs, citing Army Regulation 600-81. These programs, designed to ease the transition from military to civilian life, include the Career Skills Program (#CSP) and the Department of Defense (DoD) #SkillBridge program. While these initiatives provide soldiers with valuable opportunities for pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, on-the-job training, employment skills training, and internships, interpretations of the regulation is leading to the exclusion of a significant group of service members. This article delves into the specifics of #ArmyRegulation600-81, its intended purpose, and the troubling trend of barring retirement-eligible soldiers from participating in these essential programs." Thank you Rate My Skillbridge for the information and keeping our TSM updated. https://lnkd.in/eMy_erdi

IIPAC is a proud supporter of Helmets to Hardhats. A transitioning program for US military veterans to move directly into the ironworking field. Why prioritize transitioning veterans for apprenticeships in ironworking? Skill and Reliability: Veterans bring a wealth of skills and a track record of reliability. They are equipped with diverse expertise, drug free expectations, and leadership capabilities. Addressing Unemployment Challenges: Government unemployment costs are notably higher among veterans, particularly in the 22-26 age groups. Integrating them into apprenticeship programs helps reduce these costs and offers them stable career pathways. Maximizing Military Training: There's significant value in harnessing military training within apprenticeship programs. Former armed forces members deserve opportunities to excel in civilian professions. At IIPAC, we're dedicated to empowering veterans and utilizing their talents for success in construction. Join us as we build a brighter future together! Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gmXQq38M #VeteransInConstruction #MilitaryTransition #IIPAC

Transitioning from military service to civilian life can be challenging enough, and finding a job that is a good fit and legitimate can be difficult. Unfortunately, some scammers prey on transitioning military members, offering fake job opportunities that can lead to financial loss and disappointment. Here’s how to verify a job isn’t a scam for transitioning military members and what questions to ask in the first civilian interview. https://lnkd.in/ef6Ns7xh *** #arizona #tech #phoenix #graduate #technology #trilogy #techone #apprentice #apprenticeship

Commission Director, Veterans Justice Commission, Council on Criminal Justice, DC think-tank. President and CEO - The Strategy District. Army COL and general counsel. OEF - V.
‼️ “The Commander’s Dilemma ‼️ The military’s insufficient emphasis on transition is manifested in its most crucial form among commanders, or those individuals tasked with leading military operations, organizations, and personnel. ❇️ In short, supporting transition conflicts with these commanders’ primary and most essential responsibility—maintaining mission readiness. ❇️ When service members are valuable contributors to their units, the need to keep them on duty can seem of greater importance to a commander than the service member’s post-military future. ⚠️⚠️⚠️ One example of this dilemma relates to service members’ participation in a Department of Defense (DoD) program such as SkillBridge, which provides participants with work experience through job training, internships, or apprenticeships. … Some service members report that commanders deny SkillBridge requests because of the importance of maintaining mission readiness, although data documenting reasons for such denials has not been systematically collected. A recent report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO)27 found that service members face similar barriers when seeking access to the Transition Assistance Program (TAP), which may explain why so few complete this required program on time.” ⁉️See comments for solutions from the VJC

Demographic Data: Data show there are 82.5% men and 17.5% women, with a demographic mix that mirrors the general population. All of these military people have attributes, experience, skill sets, and a proven track record that employers need. Source: https://lnkd.in/eygjBZ3E RTHP Recruiting Data: Our internal data show that 500 (33%) are considering a Skillbridge internship with employers and 600 (40%) intend to use fully-funded education benefits at some point now or in the future. For Employers: Skillbridge is a military version of an internship, apprenticeship, and training program that lowers costs, eliminates hiring risk, improves talent, and accelerates time to productivity. The most common categories we have engaged with so far in 2024: Junior/Senior Project Managers. Finance. Logistics. Supply chain. Skilled Trades. Engineers. Cyber. IT. Leadership. Training. Congressional and Government Affairs. Medical. For Learning Institutions: with a demographic and demand cliff already affecting enrollments, it makes sense to attract fully-funded students now for Academic Year 2025-2026 and beyond. We have established digital marketing and in-person talent recruitment for military-connected students – have you? If your institution only focuses on the GI Bill but doesn’t know about 3 other key sources of Department of Defense or Veterans Administration funding, ask Return To Home Port™!
