Director at Talent Hive | Experienced recruiter and head hunter for hotels and venues across the UK | Proud advocate of the #theburntchefproject | Chief brew maker |
🌟 As a recruiter, I often come across CVs of varying lengths, and I know how important it is to strike the right balance. The ideal length of a CV is typically 1-2 pages, providing a concise yet comprehensive overview of your skills, experience, and achievements. A shorter CV can be too brief, while a longer one may risk losing the reader's attention. Remember, quality over quantity is key when it comes to showcasing your professional profile. 📄 When crafting your CV, focus on highlighting the most relevant and impactful information, tailoring it to the specific role you are applying for. This will ensure that your CV is engaging and easy to digest for potential employers. By keeping it concise and to the point, you can effectively showcase your qualifications and stand out as a top candidate. #CVTips #RecruitmentInsights #ProfessionalDevelopment #recruitment #hospitality #talenthive🌟

I understand that recruiters cannot personally respond to every applicant but an automated email sent to the applicants that were not selected once a candidate has accepted an offer would be great. Every online application has an entry in a database somewhere. A SQL query would pull the emails of all applicants except the chosen applicant. Someone somewhere has the ability to take that query and port it to a mail system. Maybe I’ll have to do it myself once I finish my developer studies.

In my opinion, IT hiring is broken to the extent that it is currently a very time-consuming process to find a relevant candidate, and most of the time it is frustrating. We need a way to quickly find candidates for specific skill sets. We also need to support our connections looking for any opportunities, be it in small ways like sharing their profile in our network, so that they get the attention from the industry, it is a difficult time for many. #helpjobseekers #helpingthecommunity #trynewthings #newageplatform #pickrighthire #changehiringstrategy
We heard the following while talking to so many industry leaders - 1. The hiring landscape is broken: Traditional methods like job boards and resume screening are slow and ineffective, leading to wasted time and resources for companies. 2. Lack of diversity and inclusion: Traditional hiring practices can increase biases and limit the talent pool, leading to less diverse and inclusive workforces. 3. Poor candidate experience portrays a negative image: Many candidates face unclear communication, and a lack of transparency throughout the hiring process, leading to negative brand impressions. 4. No way to find the required skill level search: No place to search for the exact skill level search, I need just a person with Java proficiency and React beginner-level understanding along with MongoDB intermediate-level skill set. What's your take on the same, are there any other pain points that you see in the hiring process? #hiring #hiringdevelopers #effectiveteams #efficiency #talentacquisition #talentpipeline #skillbasedhiring #righttojob #bestskilledtalent

While the hunt for a full-time job continues in the current market, through this post I want to share two recent instances of scammers pretending to be Hiring Managers and offering an interview. Thankfully I didn't fall for the ploy, but it seemed important enough to share. 1 - Received a reach-out via email for the Front-End Developer role (Remote) at Sand Cloud Inc., (a legitimate company by the way) on March 26. So, this was someone pretending to be them. The briefing documents had details about the job, benefits and the pay associated with it along with an interview code for an initial screening by the HR on Microsoft Teams. The entire conversation was similar to any exploratory call but via chat. I was told that my answers would be reviewed and they would reach out again within a day. Cut to today (27 March), I received a phone call along with an email stating that I was selected for the role. On querying the person about any further interview rounds, I was told that since it is a fresher role the screening would be enough (I wish) and I would be working under a Senior Developer's guidance. The email included a detailed offer letter, form for entering banking details for salary deposits and a non-disclosure agreement form. All documents appeared genuine but the whole thing was obviously too abrupt. Common Red Flags: HR reaching out one day after an exploratory. Real HR managers would ghost you after a call. 🙃 On a serious note, the emails used for correspondence had odd domain names '[email protected]' - Ideally the domain would have just been '@sandcloud.com'. The email for the employment offer was made through '[email protected]', glaringly obvious as pointed out by few of my friends. Also, the names mentioned during correspondence didn't seem to have profiles on LinkedIn. On reaching out to the real HR of the company, it was confirmed that someone was posing as them. 2 - Same timeline as before, I received an email from WellFound Job Alert (seemingly at first) stating that they have matched my profile to a Full Stack Engineer role at GoVesty Inc. I could see the job description posted on the site link provided. The chat was over Skype with the HR which was followed by me being given an assessment link of basic frontend and backend theory questions. Today, I received a message from the hiring manager for the next steps, which involved working on a project of my choice for a week (assessment) followed by onboarding and subsequently a job letter. This was a few hours after the first instance, so I was skeptical of it and I looked for any flaws in the reach out. The layout in the email was same as WellFound but if you try clicking on Learn More, Click here to unsubscribe, or manage email preferences at the very bottom of the email, it doesn't take you anywhere. Another Scam. So, if you are in the same boat, stay alert and extra cautious. The whole job situation is a nightmare at the moment.
