The Rutgers Juvenile Justice & Youth Development Certificate Program recognizes September 12th as National Police Women's Day. On this day, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of female police officers who work to enforce laws and maintain order throughout the United States. Despite the fact that women account for only 10% of the nation's police force, National Police Women's Day aims to inspire and encourage more women to pursue this noble profession. #juvenilejustice #youthjustice

Children of color are especially vulnerable to overcriminalization and, therefore, overrepresentation on every front: Of the 265,600 children arrested in the United States in 2021, 1 in 3 were Black children, though Black children constitute only 15% of the nation’s youth population. Fully two-thirds (67%) of children in the juvenile justice system are children of color. Read the full report: bit.ly/3YGEV0u

Launched in September 2023, our Women’s Services Map (www.WomensServicesMap.com) is a transformative directory that helps to link women with the holistic, gender-specific, trauma-informed support they need. We believe it is a valuable and critical resource for improving the outcomes for women and girls in contact with the criminal justice system. The directory currently includes over 75 women’s centres, 270 specialist services and 12 women’s prisons and provides direct referral routes and opportunities for women to access the vital and specialist support services they need when they leave prison and resettle into their local communities. Users can search for their local women’s centres and services using an interactive map, postcode search, or by filtering services by organisation or specialism. The development and launch of the Women’s Services Map has been generously funded by members of the Corston Independent Funder's Coalition (CIFC). Are you a UK-based, female-focused organisation that would like to be added to the Women’s Services Map? If so, please request a listing: https://lnkd.in/e2XfctYf #WomensCentresWork #WomensServicesMap #CriminalJusticeSpecialists #StrongerTogether #WomensSupport #weareNWJC #WomensCentresWork #WomensServicesMap #CriminalJusticeSpecialists #StrongerTogether #WomensSupport #weareNWJC

It is national stalking awareness week 2024! Joining forces against stalking is this years push. The integration of all aspects of stalking can really help to make changes in the policing of the offence and the ongoing protection for victims. I became interested in stalking as an offence and how it is policed through my undergraduate studies at the University of Chester. Before this, I was naïve about how many people are stalked in the UK and the adverse and ripple effects the offence has on victims and their families. When I started my postgraduate studies in Policing and Criminal Investigations and Liverpool John Moores University, I knew that I wanted to do my Master's thesis on stalking. I wanted to understand how the police feel about stalking and their decision making in investigations. Therefore, my study is an examination of police officer perceptions towards stalking, looking at seriousness and prior victim-offender relationships. I am on the look out for serving police officers (of any rank) working in England and Wales to complete my online anonymous survey. If you fit this criteria and have a few spare minutes I would really appreciate if you could consider taking the time to complete my survey. For more information on the study, please see the participant information sheet which prefaces the survey on this think: https://lnkd.in/ehuvTURx Thank you for taking the time reading my post! A few bad apples? Or a deeper, systemic issue? The surveys carried out by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights show that the police treat ethnic minority groups differently. Racism in policing ranges from racist comments and more frequent stops to excessive use of force and sometimes even violence...Yet, most EU countries do not record or collect data on racists incidents involving the police. Our new report looks at the issues and calls on EU countries to strengthen national laws, systematically collect data on police misconduct, make reporting safer, and increase diversity in police forces. 👉 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dqymZYEt #EURightsAgency #racism #StopRacism
