A handful of mixed reality hardware is emerging right now. 🥽 We just found out that the #visionpro ships next month, and Sony introduced a new standalone headset, different from the PSVR line, described as a "Spatial Content Creation HMD." In the background, we can also see Apple racing hard to dominate the term "spatial computing." 💭 It seems to me that there’s a lot of complexity in terminology. I agree that each new device has its unique features. I just don’t want us to get to a point where we end up describing a headset as something like the "Hyper6DQuantumRealitySpatialComputer" because this could be a potential future state. 🗒️ Some of my thoughts: As innovations continue to emerge, establishing a common language becomes crucial for effective communication and understanding. Clear and universally accepted definitions form the principles that guide users and developers as they navigate this rapidly evolving space. A common language also facilitates the development of regulatory frameworks that ensure safety, privacy, and ethical use of XR technologies which is increasingly required considering the rate of change. I would love to hear some more perspectives, Do you believe a standardized language is necessary, or should companies have full narrative freedom when marketing their products?

Absolutely bonkers!! 🤣😵💫   We've witnessed a cascade of game-changing launches and innovations that aren't just nudging the status quo – they're blasting through it! 🚀 #AppleVisionPro left me mixed, but the game's just started. #Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 is turbocharging #XR with significant enhancements! They've also revealed that 5 companies, including a notable partnership for an upcoming #Samsung device, are already developing technology based on this new chipset.   #Google has already levelled up #Gemini, barely 2 months after its predecessor. With a massive context window of 1 million tokens, Gemini 1.5's big leap forward is made possible by a technique called “Mixture of Experts,” focusing the AI's processing power where it's needed most. Gemini 1.5 now stands shoulder to shoulder with Gemini Ultra, outdoing the previous model in nearly every test.
