Friday dinner by the canals — there's nothing more Amsterdam than that. 🚤 During my recent trip to Amsterdam for our Dutch expansion, I met up with Kestutis Viliunas from our partner, The Partnership for Supply Chain Management. He shared some great insights on building a learning culture and why Sana is the perfect partner for decentralizing their content creation. What really struck me about Amsterdam is the variety of companies here (besides the well-connected L&D community). From huge multinationals to a ton of fast-growing startups, they all share one thing: leveraging innovation as a key driver of competitive advantage. Last week I was invited Tech Lounge, an event organised by Catalyst Romania in collaboration with 3TS Capital Partners. Both Catalyst and 3TS are investors in our company, Interactive Travel Holdings (ITH), so it was great to connect with the larger 3TS team that I don't normally see face to face. I was invited to be part of a panel moderated by Marius Ghenea, managing partner at Catalyst, with the interesting theme "Expand Internationally vs. Focus On The Home Markets". Of course, many takes on this theme depending on the companies you ask, our take is that 2024 is truly the year of our international expansion that will take us from the 4 current markets in CEE to new ones in CEE and larger Europe. Another interesting side debate that we didn't have time for is "should CEE founders focus on the CEE markets or go the larger (albeit more competitive) western markets"? So CEE founders, what's your take on this?

Anyway, here are some thoughts on why I wanted to do this in the first place. Location is one of life's crucial decisions, and feeling at home is feeling welcome, wherever that may be. Then, knowing that the place you choose offers opportunities is vital. So, to that point, coming to Valencia could not have worked out better in terms of meeting people and being part of something. For me, what I had in mind was with LocLunch helping to bring together a community of language expertise that would play its part in how Valencia continues to go global. So far, based on the responses, what has impressed me the most is the diversity of talent in Valencia, which I hope will join the LocLunch community. The city has a diverse range of talent, including language specialists, project managers, data scientists, mentors, business coaches, voice actors, teachers, business owners, and marketing strategists... to name a few. There are even talent managers—a shrewd move indeed. Is there a common thread to the interest? Not sure... except I am going to find out on the 16th! I do, however, believe its language community can help unlock growth opportunities because future success, stability, and well-being in large cities like Valencia depend on "communities of expertise" coexisting and cooperating to achieve great and worthwhile goals. And to that point, I was lucky enough to attend the Valencia Digital Summit last October, organized by Startup Valencia, which drew over 12,000 attendees from 91 countries and took place at the spectacular Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias. Initiatives like these allow Valencia to: • Compete globally • Forge talent pools across educational, public, and private sectors • Create opportunities for future generations • Deliver lasting, sustainable growth fulfilling environmental objectives • Facilitate global collaboration So, to close, LocLunch is a super way to start meeting and sharing ideas from experts across the board. Finding new ideas in Berlin's chaos Vienna is my playground. Here everything runs like clockwork: Same office, same gym, same Viennese charm. 24/7 the perfect routine for productivity. But sometimes perfection is exactly the problem. Because new ways of thinking are missing. And where do I find them? Exactly, in Berlin. With all its Club Mate and all its chaos: Poetry slams in the U8, DJs on bicycles, spontaneous pillow fights in Mauerpark. I love this city. And for my creativity, it's worth its weight in gold. No wonder it's the startup hub in Europe. So this summer means for me: Attending Berlin network events and meeting creative minds. But the most important thing? Letting perfect routines rest and enjoying the chaos. Because that creates new impulses. But don’t worry, Vienna – I’ll be back soon. PS: Are you in Berlin too? SaaSiest Amsterdam 2024 was an amazing event. Thanks Daniel Nackovski, Thomas Sjöberg, Saasiest team members, and all the amazing speakers. What makes it a great event: ✅ Great speakers and knowledge sharing ✅ You meet many like-minded people ✅ Many networking opportunities ✅ Great food and beverage ✅ Awesome party 🪩 🕺🏼 and other activites to meet new people 🎾 🏃🏼➡️ Many people already made great recaps of the event, but there is one thing that stand out to me that no one mentioned yet. GIVE BEFORE YOU GET. So many speakers shared knowledge and content that they would normally charge companies for. Nathan Latka, was giving away his book Kevin "KD" Dorsey, the templates that he and his GTM teams use daily Merel van der Lei, UX best practices manual the list goes on... As a #partnerships professional I know that these are built upon the give and take principle, but this applies pretty much everywhere in business, and also in personal relationships. Help someone, provide them value, will put you in an easier position to ask something back if needed. See you next year #saasiestamsterdam
