Transition Internally If you work for a company that sells a technical product or service, this is the easiest route. Reach out to the Sales Engineering Manager and express your interest. Discuss your goals with your current manager and create a plan and timeline for the transition. 2. Apply for an Entry-Level Sales Engineering Role Some companies offer associate or entry-level Sales Engineering positions, especially larger firms with comprehensive onboarding programs. Apply for these roles and you might break into the field directly. 3. Apply for a Tech Support Role This is one of the most common paths to becoming a Sales Engineer, so don’t overlook it.
