1 year as an Account Executive at Deel!!! 🚀🚀 I’ve learned a WHOLE lot but as I reflect on the last 12 months, here are some takeaways: 1️⃣ I love being a seller in the HR/payroll/compliance industry! The buyer personas I work with, the product, the business challenges that I help solve😍 2️⃣ Being a consultant and understanding key differences among competitors is important. 3️⃣ No surprise here, outbound is your lifeline. Want to gain control? Consistently prioritize a multi-faceted outbound motion. 4️⃣ A “system” that works for you & organization >>>> almost everything else 5️⃣ Hypergrowth sometimes means growing pains so maintaining positivity, controlling the controllables, and being an “early adopter” of new products, initiatives, and processes are crucial to success. 6️⃣ Being a part of a full-remote global team is AWESOME but still has some challenging realities. (Especially when your team mates are so cool and successful and you’d love the opportunity to observe them working in person!) 7️⃣ A LOT… and I mean a lot… of people want to work at Deel 😂 I receive several DMs a week from potential candidates expressing interest in joining Deel. 8️⃣ It is beneficial to make buddies from different departments, segments, roles to increase work satisfaction and collaboration. 9️⃣ Surprisingly enough, I feel like it takes about 10 months to really find your “groove” in role. Lately, my talk tracks have improved, my consultative recommendations come naturally, my dependence on internal resources while live on calls has decreased. I’m about to wrap another contract… Here’s what I’ve learned this time around… 1️⃣ Working in (yet another) new industry means learning… and the knowledge/experience I’ve amassed in my career, only goes so far until I’ve learned the ‘how’ and the ‘why’ in a new world! 2️⃣ Doing any kind of work for a brand that you are not only familiar with, but are a fan of… is a total game changer! Your investment in the game just hits a little different! 3️⃣ However short term a project or an assignment is…you can still add massive value! Game changing value! 4️⃣ Contract work was never my goal… but I have found myself taking more pride in my work than ever. I done some really meaningful work and I’m so proud of it… (I don’t say that about myself too often) 5️⃣ No matter how cool a company is, or how amazing a brand you work for… the people you work with are still the most important thing… an amazing brand with a crappy culture is never going to be a great employer… but if you have the brand and the culture… wow! One of the most exciting parts of building a business is... 🥁 Drum roll 🥁 Being able to change what you didn't like in the "corporate" world you worked before. Not sure if it's exciting for everyone but it's pretty exciting for me. So, since day one people who work at Hiire "only" work 35 hours a week. They can easily take 1 day off every 2 weeks or half a day every week, or even work 7 hours a day. It's not a 4 days work week but it's close to that. But my goal wasn't to control when people work. My goal is to give everyone the freedom to do their best work when they feel that have the energy and the focus to do it. I can't ask a creative to be creative every single minute. I can't ask a recruiter to do 8 interviews a day and be nice and emphatic with every candidate. But I ask everyone to do their best when they believe they are at their best. What do you think about this? I'm curious to know other benefits that are different and help productive work.
