Had a very brief call with a "prospect' that had been referred to me this afternoon. He told me he already had 3 #insurance brokers and they were competing on each of his properties every time one came up for renewal and they were looking for a fourth to add to the lineup. I wish I was joking but this is real & he was serious. I cannot reiterate enough how much of a disadvantage you put your company at by having multiple brokers go out to market every year on your behalf. Or in this case, multiple times a year because each location was being quoted separately. Economies of scale matter. Perception of your company in the market matters. Underwriting fatigue is a real disadvantage. If you want the best terms and pricing available in the insurance market: 👉 Select a broker you trust to do a good job for you. Make sure they have access to markets and enough market share + good relationship capital to negotiate competitively for you. This can all be determined in a broker selection process if you want to interview multiple brokers. Just do it before any submissions are sent to market on your behalf.
