Pity is that, not just these poor recruiters (often scapegoats), but senior leaders of the firm, involved in recruiting, don't come back in many instances! Glassdoor has a feedback section for candidates to share their interview experience with that company! How often have you seen leaders answering their questions in "bowls" and otherwise? to address the candidate's concerns? How often have you seen the CEO or CHRO responding to any feedback on Glassdoor? 35% or more of companies, don't even own their Glassdoor page. Why? 85% don't have any response to feedback, good, bad, or ugly! Why? I challenge senior leaders of the firm to do a "forensic" audit of the hiring process, and you will find skeletons tumbling out of cupboards all around! Big talks on EVPs and Employer Branding, Talent Marketing become damp squib PR stunts, in absence of real reforms that the recruiting process needs today. At least, the Big 4 know what a "forensic" audit means, as they offer this as their "sophisticated" offering! 😅 APAC CEO of a Big 4 shared a LinkedIn story of empathy and commitment for hiring the physically challenged staff, while lauding the effort that his Chief Happiness Officer made to make this hiring happen! He talks about the struggles of that wheelchair-borne student who had a tough life educating herself, then finding her first job etc. and then "One Day", this poor girl gets a call from his Chief Happiness Officer and she gets to this prestigious Consulting and Advisory firm that has ~100K staff in India. BUT WAIT, when you check the LinkedIn profile of this "Diversity" hire, you will find that, she has 11 years of career, out of which a 3 years at IBM and then 8 years at Intel, where she grew in career. I wonder, in what way is this a "diversity" hiring seeking Mother Teresa status of the CEO and the Chief Happiness Officer, who just offered an already settled and successful staff at a well-known global tech firm? She didn't need your extra-large empathy! You should rather have helped some other disabled person, who needed a break in corporate to start a "respectable" life! DEI was great till Woke entered and killed it! 😅 So, recruiters, never ever allow anyone to send you on a GUILT TRIP!

📞 I recently had a call with one of my clients to see how their new hire is doing, and something surprised me... After chatting, he said "I've never had a recruiter actually follow up with me. Typically recruiters just disappear and I never hear back from them after making a hire, I'm curious why do you check in? " My reason is simple... I presented you with the candidate and you trusted me when you hired them. If I don't check-in and the candidate doesn't live up to expectations... odds are you'll probably use another recruiter in the future. So I want to make sure you stay happy with every hire.
