The first pancake is never good. But you need to make the first pancake to know how long to have it on the stove, how much to ladle in, the right way to flip it, etc. My first lo-fi design is never good. But, I need to just make it and get it out there to see where to go next and start a conversation about it. Your first design will always have an intuitive feel about it that you need to get out there so you know where to refine. Kind of like perfecting the batter. #uxdesign #ideating

Whalar just unveiled their latest project, The Lighthouse. A first-of-its-kind innovative campus in the heart of Venice, CA for creators of all different mediums (entrepreneurs, filmmakers, musicians, chefs, etc...). The Creator Camp team and I were fortunate enough to receive a tour of the property from Neil Waller 🐳 yesterday. And... can I just say... Wow?! The location, a post office built in 1939, sets a historical but future-facing tone. Right as you walk in the door, there’s a stunning mural of Albert Kinney (city founder of Venice) painted by modernist, Edward Biberman. Once you’re in, the space truly feels like it’s designed to be a hub for connection and creation. From the stunning coffee shop upstairs to the music room and makers studio downstairs (with a no phone rule, which I love), there’s a unique interdisciplinary blend that will spark some incredible projects. My take? The Lighthouse could do what other physical locations in the past (YouTube studios, etc) have failed to do. I think determining who’s a part of the community and finding ways to foster and grow it will prove to be challenging. But, if done well, the Lighthouse truly feels like it can be the epicenter of creativity on the West Coast (and beyond). This project is a massive undertaking, so kudos to the whole team, Lucy Tate, Jon Goss, Steve Nolte & the many others who brought this project to life. Let me know what you think of the project! Our architectural design of ‘Carlsberg Visitor Center’ in Copenhagen receives 5 out of 6 ⭐ in Berlingske!   Recently Home of Carlsberg opened its doors to the public. Here you’ll find a new exhibition for anyone thirsting for knowledge about the brewery's history. According to this outstanding review by Holger Dahl, Art and Architect Editor at Berlingske, it is worth visiting.     Together with Event we have kept and enriched the existing characteristics of the building to frame the exhibition. An approach Holger Dahl acknowledges in the review: “It's a courageous decision, but a decision that harmonizes beautifully with today's focus on recycling, upcycling, and transformation.    There are no spectacular 'wow' constructions in steel and glass, no giant capsules, gold facades, or other gimmicks; instead, there are the authentic narrow stairs, winding corridors, and low-ceilinged spaces that strengthen authenticity, yet also create a strangely placeless experience.”    Read the whole review here in Danish (Subscription required):  https://lnkd.in/g4F58pAf

There is no promising treatment of dementia in sight despite the dementia prevalence will triple over the next 25 years. Anti-Abeta mAbs like lecanemab and donanemab are interesting but expensive new treatments but they are only moderately efficacious and only in early stage Alzheimer’s No effect in late stage disease and in other types of dementia. It is furthermore difficult to see how lifelong (expensive) treatment of all such patients could ever be financed. The only future option to handle established dementia is therefore to conduct proper care like May does at her care home, Dagmarsminde, in Denmark. It will furthermore be necessary to establish preventive measures like we plan to do in ElderHubs, which at the same time strongly increases the quality of life for the elderly.
