As March draws to a close, we reflect on the incredible journey we embarked upon with the adidas Equal Play Billboard -- an impactful activation that played a vital role in the effort to increase sports coverage for women in sports. As Rebecca Amey, Regional Managing Director for Jack Morton MENAT beautifully articulated:    “Marketing activations like this are so important for our industry because they have the potential to catalyze social change and shape new narratives. In spotlighting women's football, which is still globally underrepresented, we do more than simply elevate the brand, product or the sport – we challenge stereotypes and champion gender equality. Done right, these activations help foster inclusivity, empowerment, and progress.”   As we bid farewell to this month of recognition, let's carry forward the spirit of equality and inclusivity that this work embodies. Why is this still on the agenda, and HOW important is it? 💙 Gender equality is one of the 17 sustainable development goals of the UN. -85% of those goals are not on track -There is an intersectionality between #climate #biodiversity #humanrights and #womenrights - The most affected group is often women whenever there is a climate crisis or geopolitical instability. 💛 When it comes to the #luxury and #jewelry industry: 90% of purchases are predominantly influenced by women. Either through #selfpurchase (great, so it means she is economically independent) or otherwise. - We need to think about the most vulnerable groups in #artisinalmining; for example - We also need to be aware that 72% of leaders in #jewelry and #luxury are male, and only 5% are people of color. 💪 CALL TO ACTION: ''We (the #jewelryindustry at large) must seriously integrate gender into a company's strategies and see it as a business imperative.'' The recent controversy surrounding Nike's Olympic uniforms is a perfect example of why it is so important to have women as leaders and key decision makers. For a large multinational corporation like Nike, the question is no longer, "Why didn't anyone, especially the women involved in the process, say anything?" but rather, "Why weren't these women's concerns taken seriously?" All too often, companies use their percentage of female employees as a marketing tool to position themselves as champions of gender equality, only to discover that these women rarely make it to upper management and are often paid less than their male counterparts. Creative Directors Influence Customer Spending Luxury streetwear customers purchase from luxury brands based on who the creative director is. #luxurycustomer Interestingly 80% of this luxury customer type believe hip/hop artists influence streetwear. Luxury streetwear is a large part of today's luxury fashion with many of the industries designers coming from a streetwear background. #luxuryfashion Which is likely one of the reasons Pharrell Williams is the Louis Vuitton mens creative director.
